1. Generally, the roofers don't come until it's about 100 degree. Just to get in the mood, you know.
You'd be surprised what good roof timbers can endure. Unless things got too far out of hand. Don't worry. Been through a lot of roofing myself. I don't envy the work, but everything else is ruined without them. Show 'em how much you appreciate their work. Make 'em some lemonade or something.

:hi:

2. I have offered water and cool air, but they say no.
It is 'only' 88 today.
Plan to put extra in the check targeted to them.
The contractor is my neighbor - he is a good guy.

3. Just watch out for the fucking staples and roofing nails - they'll be EVERYWHERE!
It seems like they just keep appearing for weeks after the job is done.

5. Don't go outside while they're on the roof. You never know what may land on you.

Oh, I remember the roofers. Removing the old roof was louder than the new shingling because the old roof had to be broken off (wacko tile.) I'm just glad that we didn't have any pets when we had the roof done.

eta: and we give high praise to our crew because they did a fantastic job cleaning up. The owner said it was the most common complaint for roofers and he figured if his crew did it right the first time he'd have less hassle in the long run.
