Have to get the oil changed and radiator flushed in the van today. FORTUNATELY...

There's a nice bar right next door to the place I'm taking it for the work. A couple of cold Lager drafts and a super-slice of mushroom pizza should ease the pain from the repair bill.

I'm sort of overdue on both matters.

I had them run the diagnostic (dye) on the cooling system and they called to say they wanted $1400 and two days to replace a bunch of shit to fix the minor leak. I said "fuck that noise" and told them to just finish with the cooling system flush and oil change. Well after the time frame they gave me, I walked back over and the van was outside. I went in and waited for 20 minutes until someone got around to dealing with me. "Oh, yeah, that's done."

I looked over the bill and they hadn't done the cooling system flush. Suddenly the price went from $89 to over $100 and it would take another two hours. Fuck that shit. The ONLY reason I went to Pep Boys to begin with is because it was next to the bar. I need to find another service joint near a beer joint.

Oh, and they didn't even top off the coolant.

I changed a water pump in 15 minutes start-to-finish on the street outside my apartment, but that was on a 70 Maverick - easy car to work on.
