The latest True Blood was the best of the season so far.
I finally got to see the Jessica that I adore so much. It was also nice to see less of Sookie. I wouldn't mind a few episodes without her in it.

1. If it wasn't for Sookie there would be no series
since the books are all about Sookie.

I adore Anna Paquin. She's proof that not all child actresses turn out to be crack-addled crazed adults (looking at you Lindsay Lohan). People who aren't familiar with Anna's earlier works are suprised to find out the girl already has an Academy Award to her name. She's the 2nd youngest winner ever for her roll in "The Piano" at age 11.

If anything, I'm damn happy the inbreeds from HotShot have not been in the last 2 episodes - good riddance!

2. I put down the first book after reading for 20 minutes.
Because I find character of Sookie (you're right, Anna is great) and Bill so annoying. I do, however, love the supporting characters. I still miss Godric very much.

9. Her Reaction When She Won The Oscar Is My Favorite Oscar Highlight of All Time
It was one of the most genuine emotional moments in the history of that show.

14. She's just proof that you can be a talented kid actor and grow up to be normal
There were no stories of Anna partying all night or getting busted with a DUI or drugs. Her acting career is pretty well-balanced between indie flicks with a few big-budgets (she was Rogue in the X-Men Series - I think all actors are required to do one comic book movie). I think she went a few years to an Ivy league school. Even with her love life, she kept it really low-key and shocked everyone when she came out as a bisexual last year (did it for a PSA).

She's alot like Natalie Portman, very smart, very low-key and learned how to turn a child actor career into an adult career without all the typical child actor craziness. Lindsay Lohan could learn alot from Anna and Natalie.

I think one of the issues with Anna as Sookie is the accent she uses in the show - it's just really over the top. In fact all of them have pretty crazy accents. Moyers (Bill, Kwantan (Jason) and Paquin all have accents from overseas (Brit, Aussie and New Zealand via Canada). I was suprised when I watched an interview with Chris Bauer (Andy), he looks and sounds nothing like his TB character. For some reason Skarsgard never really had a heavy accent.

4. I'm impressed with Alex Skarsgaard's acting.
Eric has undergone some pretty major changes. His amnesiac innocence is great. Not quite how it happened in the book but it works.

5. kinda was how it happened - witches did it
but Alan Ball was clear that the books are only a guideline. I read where the books were really from Sookie's viewpoint only and vary rarely was there scenes that didn't include Sookie. True Blood the show is more of an ensemble piece where may of the other characters were expanded and created as equals.

Alexandar Skarsgard is a very talented actor - he takes after his dad, who is also very talented!

6. That's true. But it happened much earlier in the plot.
And it's true about the books being all Sookie all the time. Lafayette died early on and other characters didn't exist at all, so Ball and the writers have really created their own universe. Sookie also gets abused a lot more in the books, believe it or not. I confess to reading several before pooping out. The series is more compelling, not a little bit because of the plethora of drop dead GORGEOUS men. I don't think there's anything to rival it for drool factor, and I'm kinda old! LOL!!

7. I've only read thru the 4th book.
I kinda read the book related to the season right before the season starts but honestly, not a fan of the books. Because they are all about Sookie and I want more store about my other favorite characters like Lafayette (who technically is dead), Pam and Sam.

If Alan Ball stayed true to the books the series would have been a real bore.

12. As an FYI - this is a book spoiler. So skip it if you don't want to know what happens in the book

Remember the end of season #1 Tara, Sookie and Andy found a dead body in the backseat of Andy's car. All we saw was that the foot was black and had painted red toenails.

TECHNICALLY that was suppose to be Lafayette Reynolds. Lafayette was killed off the end of the first book. In fact Nelsan Ellis, the person who portrays Lafayette, knew that the role he was taking was only for one season; he expected his character to be the dead body in the back of the car.

But Ellis did such a great job of portraying Lafayette, one of the most popular characters in the TV series, that Alan Ball found another person who could also possibly have a black foot with red painted toenails - and that was Miss Jeanette, the phony exorcist that killed the demons in Tara and her Mother. He changed the plotline in the book from Lafayette to Miss Jeanette. It all worked out well - Maryann (the Maenad from season #2) came to Bon Temps because she sensed spiritual energy from the exorcism that Miss Jeanette did on Tara. Remember when Tara after she drank the potion that Miss Jeanette gave her - Tara had visions of her younger self and that younger self had those strange black eyes that everyone was getting in season #2 (those who were under Maryann's spell). Maryann thought Miss Jeanette was a supe and killed her so she could sacrifice her heart to Dionysis. Turns out Miss Jeanette was a phony.

So any storyline involving Lafayette is brand new creation by Alan Ball. In the books, the Witches had very little connection to Bon Temp other than Holly the waitress. So this was a perfect way of tying the witches in locally by having Jesus and Lafayette practice Wiccan.

BTW other characters not found in the book include Jessica Hamby (Bill's protegy), I believe the Mickens (same knew he was adopted but never went into details about the family). Sookie's closest friend was Arlene, not Tara. Tara was a bit character that appeared in season #2 - Alan Ball made her Sookie's best friend.

One very notable absence from the book is Bubba and I know the fans would love to have him in the show. Rumor has it, Elvis was not found dead in his bathroom but in a coma. I guess there was a vampire working in the hospital or ambulance crew that turned Elvis right before he died but did a crappy job of it and so Bubba looks like the King but is a bit messed up, very protective of Sookie and prefers the blood of cats over humans.

8. Yeah I cannot stand Sookie either nor am I a fan of AP's acting in this role.
In fact, I think this series has continued to go downhill - season 1 was great - and have finally decided, though Eric and Alcide are great eye candy - I am out. :-(

Alan Ball did such a great job with Six Feet Under, so disappointed in this.

13. I love the witch. I hope she fucks with all the vampires.
Necromancers are awesome. I love the rot spell.

Alas, I know the witch will most likely either die or be "disarmed" by the end of the season. Oh well.
