So how much "I Love Lucy" can you stand to watch?
One half hour episode was plenty for me.

2. I could always only take Lucy in small doses. Too
much slapstick for me.

As an aside, I'm a substitute teacher. When the kids ask how old I am (some wiseguy always does) I ask them if they've ever seen old I Love Lucy reruns. When they say yes, I simply reply that when I was a kid those weren't reruns. They were being shown for the first time. Jaws always drop at that point and I think they think I'm ancient.

3. I was a child when they were shown too.

It annoys me that Ricky treats Lucy like a child and she acts like one. The whole male female way of relating from that era is so incredibly annoying. It also seems like they are over-acting in every scene, and the laugh track is just too much. But at the time I thought it was very funny, I'm sure.

7. Yep. Many episodes revolved around Lucy getting

into some sort of jam and trying to hide it from Ricky lest he blow his top at her.

Ironic, because in real life she was a shrewd businesswoman and nobody's fool.

11. I could watch it when I was a kid
but the mores of the era are too freaky to me now. I can't sit there and watch it uncritically.

4. Not any more. I was a big fan, but not now,
I think I have seen every episode since the series first started.

6. Lucy, I enjoy her comedy as a rule.
Now, they say that "Everbody Loves Raymond" but it's not true. I can tolerate Raymond in limited doses, but I certainly don't love him. Honestly, in real life, the wife would have left him years ago because of the overbearing inlaws. The show basically devolved into a shouting match each episode. If I had wanted to see that, I would have just watched my parents marriage.

25. I also can't stand Raymond.
When I have seen the show (not my choice), I never even cracked a smile. I think it's so stupid. I don't love Lucy either. I watched it when I was a kid, but I don't remember if I liked it or not. I know I don't like it now.

They are too loud and too frantic.

9. When I was 6 my dad was transferred to London as a Naval attache.
It was 1957, and our temporary billet was in a London cold water flat. I remember to this day how miserable I was until Mom turned on the small black and white TV that came with the apartment; and there it was, I Love Lucy. I've always had a soft spot for the show since that day.

13. Knowing what we know about Lucy and her craft
I love watching. She was a genius at comedy, especially physical comedy. Even if the shows seem sooooo dated now, they are some of the best ever made.

It is pure nostalgic gold for me, everything from the characters to the sets and clothing and furniture, technology and props.

We have had it running in the background on and off throughout the marathon, and it is a delicious dip into a past that seems so far away now.

Thought all she did was whine and make faces and generally act like an idiot, without being funny.

That was following 1 episode of Leave it to Beaver.

My 10 y.o. daughter said "I don't get this show" about Lucy :P

I realize that it's suppose to be funny but was not my type of humor but I respect Lucille Ball for the legendary talent that she was.

22. Nowhere near that much.
The Lucy lovefest spiked both my Saturday morning Golden Girls fix on Hallmark AND my Sunday afternoon Happy Days/Laverne & Shirley block on MeTV (a relatively new broadcast network with an affiliate up in Santa Rosa). :grr:

And yes, I know I need to get a life. :-)

23. I just heard today that Lucy insisted they put it to film, instead of just sending out the signal
live, so it was the first tv series to ever have reruns....which they made a killing on. I don't think I ever saw more than one show. I liked the show that had the older version of Lucy on it.

difference what kind of mood I'm in, though, since sometimes I can't watch even one. I was never a fan of I Love Lucy. Everyone yells in that show.

I didn't care that much for the show even when it wasn't reruns.
