Just in time for school I found three old cigar boxes, kids needed them for school ..
The boxes still smell of cigars.

I wonder how parents managed to find cigar boxes for the kids back in the 60's.

The cigars cost 49 cents.

A nice memory of school days.

Image now sending a kid to school with a cigar box still smelling of cigars.

We used them to hold pencils and things.

1. Parents didn't "manage to find" cigar boxes in the 1960s.
They were easier to get then--your dad was a regular-enough cigar smoker he bought them in boxes, or a neighbor (remember them?) was and saved the boxes for the neighborhood kids, or you could go to a corner cigar store and get an empty one for the asking.

2. I do love the smell of the boxes.
My father didn't smoke but a lot of people did.

These boxes look brand new.

There were a lot of us back then, I bet you still needed to know someone.

They are nice well made boxes.

3. My grandfather gave me one for my school supplies.
Back in the 1960s.

I think it said "King Edward".

4. Glad you didn't find one of my old cigar boxes, would've smelled
but not like cigars. Instead there would be a blend of cigar and dank icky bud. I know (now) that it's best to keep it in airtight glass containers, but back in the day...
