Edited on Mon Apr-05-04 01:56 PM by elfwitch
PART 1: What is your gender? Meaning, do you have girl parts or do you have boy parts?

PART 2: What do you like and or hate most about being a boy or a girl?

With your long blonde hair, you look like a girl.
Well, you may be a boy, but you look like a girl.

there are some people who are not an XX or an XY. (Was reading about this in a book about women in sports in a chapter on sex testing.)

Yeah it's a birth defect but it does make for an option other than just boy or girl based on genotype.

44. One would tend to assume we are talking about
normal chromosome counts and genotypes that don't come with other related issues and health problems.

46. Why would one assume that...
I'm thinking the "other" category was put in the poll for just such issues.

And having the chromosomal abnormalities doesn't always mean health problems. Hell, the place I heard about it was in a book on women athletes after all and how some of them didn't even know they had something other than the normal XX until they were sex-tested for a competition. They had gone their whole lives without having any kind of medical issue that had necessitated testing.

...chromosomes nearly all of them have associated health risks, if they don't result in death outright.

53. you are wrong
about 20% of children are born intergender, after which they are assigned a gender, based on the appearance of genitialia (and depending on what kind of doctor they had for the operation). These intergender people have no health issues aside from being 3rd gender...we make them one gender and give them a lot of hormones so that they fit into our ideal two gender polarizations.

68. If you mean intersex, I think it's actually less than 4%
of children that are born intersex (it might even be closer to 2%). I'm not sure what intergendered is, maybe another term for transgender, which has little to do with bodysex or genitals but rather usually means having a gender that is at odds with one's bodysex.

72. intersex isn't necessarily chromosomal
I believe in the vast majority of cases it has nothing to do with chromosomes (rather is the consequence of natal hormone levels), and also in most cases results in no detrimental health conditions but only cosmetic issues (i.e., ambiguous genitals), though there are exceptions such as hypospadias. Thus, your line of reasoning re health issues is invalid in most cases for what you imply are aberrant people.

I like being a woman because it doesn't look like dudes have it any better.

I hate being a woman because my boobs get in the way. They are heavy and hot to carry around, especially during Texas summers. I also get tired of having them stared at all the time. I know they are big. I know they are hard to miss. But come on! They are just boobies. Everybody has them.

I find I have many questions for people I don't get to meet in real life very often.

People I have many questions for:
Transgendered
Muslims (the Orthodox kind that wear the ritual garb)
Buddhists
Hindus (the Orthodox kind that wear the ritual garb)
Siamese Twins (still conjoined)
People in other nations - especially Third World nations

I want to find out about the practical aspects of their daily life. I figure if you ask questions, you begin to understand more.

I wouldn't, however, walk up to one of these types of people, if I didn't know them, and start asking lots of questions. I don't want to be rude or intrusive.

15. I know you didn't mean it quite that way...
but that has been the implication for centuries now. When you say "I like being a man" and then follow it up with "I like being big and strong and able to support a family" it implies that those two things are intrinsically linked and not being one means not being the other.

Has down sides for both genders because it tells women "you have to have someone to take care of you" and it tells men who aren't big or strong or successful that they are not "really" a man.

Patriarchy and the resulting stereotypes suck ass.

19. who said I was usccesful?
I happen to like exploring those stereotypes. I enjoy picking and choosing which aspects of those stereo types I will incorporate into my life.

I am strong, both phyisicaly and emotionaly. I can cry in front of others and I will kick your ass for laughing.

I am big. I can be physicaly intimidating. It also means that I have a great lap for sitting on. I have strong arms for holding another and I have big shoulders, with big shirts that soak up many tears.

I know that I have both gender and racial bias working for me. To deny it would be a lie. I just choose not to abuse it, at least when I can recognize it.

33. Boy girl?
I like neither gender. Both of 'em stink.

I am neither and both.I am a feline.
I don't like human male culture or female culture, because they both suck.To be honest I don't like human culture"norms" at all because they revolve too much around power, position ,authority, submission, objectifying, mind games appearances, and domination which to me is sickening.

Humanity enjoys and indulges the ugly side of it's heart too much for me to feel at home as a "human being" or at home on this planet most of the time.

To me,I am feline inside because I identify as feline and I always have. I strive to live my life without internalizing the stupid mind baggage humans(parents peers etc) and our sick civilization(institutions school work, etc) invents for us to cram ourselves into.I am very aware of the way consent gets manufactured in this culture. This "gendering" is just another game imposed upon children early on .Society uses gender to control, divide and impose concepts of classes, certain beliefs, and slave hood on sovereign free people to make them forget they do not have to live this way if it makes them miserable. One way social domination is done in a hierarchical power based culture is through widely held beliefs like 'gender norms'..

I was born female, but never was at home in the feminine role or body.I am trans-gender, but I don't wish to be made into a total male either because I am not at home being male. Binary gender is too limited for me.I'm neither and both.
I am bisexual I like men and women both. They're people. And because I look to the mind heart and personality, I don't give a shit about their sexual plumbing.Lastly, I am asexual which means to me,sex is low on my priority list when I meet people.

What I seek in other people is compatible companionship/personalities,intelligent or interesting conversations, emotional and mental sharing, good times, good humor, depth, character, a person not into playing mind games, who is not a person with control issues,I seek a spirit that loves adventure, creativity, exploring and affection as well.A person not afraid to be who they are and who can let me be who I am regardless and enjoys this difference between us and is not threatened or controlled by it.

52. I have girl parts and mostly I like them
I, like the earlier poster, would love to be able to pee anywhere - I also would like to have more of a mechanical aptitude. But I don't like getting dirty - ? So I have to trust mechanics to look after my car.

69. Decidely male.
The thing I hated most about my male parts was early puberty, and the lack of control I had over them; it could be damnably inconvenient and/or embarrassing, at times... :P
