Cops: Pair took dead pal to strip club
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44547904/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/

DENVER — In a real-life version of the movie "Weekend at Bernie's," two men drove around with a dead friend's body, used his ATM card and visited a strip club, police said.

Robert Jeffrey Young and Mark Rubinson were charged with abusing a corpse, identity theft and criminal impersonation. They were freed on bond, according to the Denver Post.

According to the Post, an affidavit accused Young and Rubinson of leaving Jarrett's body in the car while they drank at a bar on his tab Aug. 27.

Investigators allege the men stopped at a restaurant, returned Jarrett's body to his home, used Jarrett's ATM card and withdrew $400 at a teller machine at Shotgun Willie's strip club before reporting Jarrett's death.

This is a bizarre and unfortunate crime," police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. "This isn't anything you want to have happen to a loved one. You want them treated with respect in death."

1. Respect? I don't see a lack of respect.
They took him out for a last night on the town. It's not like they threw him in bed with a one-eyed hooker, lit the bed on fire and took photos as he burned.

7. Once rigor mortis sets in, one no longer has a lap in which to dance
Unless, of course, one's buddies have the foresight to fold you up before the rigor takes. On the other hand, a sitting corpse is harder to slide past the bouncer.

3. Sounds like drugs and alcohol resulted in bad decision making
I wonder too, if Jarrett could have been saved. Corpses also evacuate their bladder and bowels, keeping him in the car was just sloppy. They didn't need him to steal from him.

8. Your moral double standards when it comes to the equal rights of deceased Americans is appalling
I'm calling my Congresscritter right fucking now!

(PS, upon typing this, I've discovered that the word "Congresscritter" is now approved of by my spellchecker)

10. People may do stupid things when illegal drugs are involved
Someone overdoses and the first instinct is to just run. When I worked in the ER, MDs still had to ask about illegal drugs and report them, I hope this has changed.
