1. I didn't want to see it but I'm glad I did.
There were some good belly laughs. Men will enjoy it too, but I think it's more of a woman's movie.

6. I reaaalllyyyy liked it!
I thought the infamous "gross" scene was gratuitous, but I loved the rest of it, especially how NORMAL the women looked. I think I said this in an earlier thread here, come to think of it, but I was so impressed I'll say it again: Except for the character who prided herself on being plasticky perfect, all the other women looked like, well, how women look--little stomach pouches, bad hair, smeared makeup, boring clothes. Even the main character. Honestly, it was wonderful to see, and I realized it was so notable because we NEVER see that in other "movies for women".

Besides that, the story was great, the script was brilliant, the humor was everything from riotous to subtle to sweet, everything was great. And the guy who turned out to be the love interest--even though he was average looking by Hollywood standards, he was so wonderful, and so natural-acting, that you couldn't help but fall for him, even before the main character does.

9. The DVD release is being advertised a lot on cable, but I never seem to be...

... looking at the TV when one of the women BELCHES (I'm
assuming while drunk or hungover) and she says, "I'm not
really confident WHICH end that came out of."

I've HEARD it 6-8 times -- never looked up in time to SEE it.

It's a chick flick, but better than most.

As others have said, the best thing about it was how normal the women (and the main love interest) looked. They didn't look like Hollywood actresses, they looked just like early-30s/late 20s women I know in real life.

Although parts of it were overdone, I also thought there were elements of the dialogue that were extremely true to life re: how real-world women actually act around one another, both in terms of scenes where there was tension and conflict and scenes in which two good female friends were having fun together. There was one scene in a coffee shop near the beginning of the movie where the two leads are laughing together and making fun of one another that I just thought was 100% dead on about how good female friends behave when they hang out together.

I also liked the main love interest, and thought he was a very good representation of what a average, normal "nice guy" in our culture is like (the good kind of "nice guy"). He was actually quite attractive to me, despite being average in the physical looks department. I think a lot of women are looking for a guy just like that one - hard-working, good sense of humor, kind.
