Wow. Fuckin Yahoo sucks.
They just scrambled all my bookmarks and now they're telling me I can only edit my bookmarks if I install their handy-dandy toolbar.

Fifteen years of using My Yahoo as a homepage is coming to an end.

Suggestions? (Helpful. Comedic. Insulting. All are welcome.)

1. My home page is a local HTML file. I modify it as needed and have it organized.
Phone numbers, addresses, medical, search engines, comics, news, languages, political, etc.

4. Try this:
'
<html>
<head>
<title>My fucking home page and shit</title>
</head>
<body>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
"News Pages"
</td>
<td>
<a href="news.yahoo.com">Yahoo news</a>
etc...
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</body>
</html>
'
You can throw in some nbsp tags (put a & before it and a semicolon after it - can't get DU to ignore it even with quotes) to add spacers (non-breaking space). Don't use the quote marks around the top and bottom of the code - those are to keep DU from trying to use the HTML.

6. Did you upgrade to the new "improved" version?
I did that, and it was soooooo bad that I search for a way to go backward. And actually there is a way. I was so pissed at all the problems I was having that I went to help and found a place where I could get a chat with tech support. They were not able to find a way to fix my problems, and there is a tool to allow you to go back to Classic, but mine was missing (???). She actually went into my account and changed it back. Ahhhhh, life is normal again.

7. I'm on the old Yahoo.
Yahoo is mad at me for not changing my password. When I sign in to get my mail, they always say, oops, must have had caps lock on or something, please try again, when I KNOW I did not mis-type my info. So I re-load the page and hit the "X" key in my browser to keep it from loading all the way. Then I type in my username and password and hig the "sign in" button instead of the enter key.

I do all this to prevent them from sending me a code set of letters to type in, over and over and over again, AS IF I am typing them wrong in every time I enter them, even though I know I am NOT.

Lately they have been making the code set of letters so fuzzy and crooked that I often CAN'T SEE WHAT ALL OF THEM ARE.

NO MATTER WHAT NO MATTER WHAT NO MATTER WHAT I am not going ot change my password.

I then get to a page that says they think my password has been "compromised," although they do not explain anywhere what they are talking about. They ask me to change my password.

I have a special place to click in my browser to bypass all that and go directly to my inbox next.

I think there is some weird thing that is supposed to happen when I change my password, but they can't make me do what they want until I change it.

It makes my blood boil but I do not want to dump this account as I have had it for awhile.

8. Try startpage as your browser -- they don't track you -- and DU as your home page.

9. What browser do you use?
I have the main Yahoo page as my home page. I use Firefox as my main browser. Having Yahoo as my home page has never caused me any problems. It has installed its damn toolbar onto my Firefox via other applications. I just remove it or disable it. Firefox has gotten to be a pain in the ass, but I'm sure my ancient computers have a bit to do with that.

11. Yahoo is screwing with me too. First the "new" email (though I found a way out of that)
and now, even though I have set my homepage to Yahoo, I still get annoying requests to set my homepage to Yahoo. And every now and then they want me to sign in with facebook. wtf?

But the mail thing really pissed me off was the forced change to the new email. Until I found how to keep the old email.

I can deal with Yahoo, but it ain't the web refuge it once was.
