anybody awake? oh yeah time zones
the weirdest thing is happening. we are having a storm with a LOT of wind and a little while ago the electricity went out for a bit then came back - no big deal, used to that. but now it is barely on - like a 75 watt incandescent bulb is dimmer than a candle. I have never seen this before. the operator at the electric coop said it was low voltage (those that know me know I am clueless about electricity and worse, I have a mental block about it so don't bother trying to explain if you need to use words like ohms or impedence - hell low voltage has lo real meaning to me really)

the phone line seems ok - the dial-up connection is working. laptop on battery mode.

so ask me anything?

2. Probably blew a fuse on the high side of the transformer that feeds your panel.
Ha! Kali, I googled it. Seems like you would do best to turn off everything you aren't using for now. I just wanted to let you know you aren't alone on a saturday morning at 4:56 am.:hi:

7. Motors don't like low voltage
This according to the DIY community, here's the link: http://www.doityourself.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-142143.html

I would weigh what I have in the freezer and frig, against how long I could expect full voltage to be restored. You don't want to burn them out certainly and they can retain the cold for a while if turned off. I can't say, but I don't have a big freezer full of food/turkey. I might turn off my frig.

12. I don't think I read about the skunk scented dog!
Maybe MFM has referred to dumbass and a proclivity for maladaptive behavior, but I thought dumbass was a male. And the pretty one from Mexico is a girl, I am confused. I guess any little critter is to enticing for a dog brain.

14. yes Dumbass is a big doofy inbred mutt, Lupe is the pretty paint coyote from
Chihuahua - she is the one, got hit yesterday evening up close and hard

I soaked her pretty good twice with deodorizing pet spray "even works on skunk odor!" :eyes: but it was/is still pretty bad so I made a bed for her outside and figured she would be tolerable by today. It is not too bad now but I don't want her in my bed yet!

16. Poor baby
I meant Lupe, but you too. In the face? Oh my. She is smart, maybe that will never happen again. Really, is seems the electricity trouble may be easy to solve, if anyone from the electric company is working early on a Saturday morning.

13. A wet, stinky dog
Oh, Kali, the trials you are put through. I haven't had the pleasure of a wet, skunk smelling dog, so I haven't tried this, but the science is sound. Do you have some hydrogen peroxide and baking soda? Maybe a sort of rub down/bath? Here is the link: http://www.mvmagazine.com/article.php?24895
