A New Lens

My dear husband just bought me a wonderful, fast lens for my combo birthday/Christmas present! We played with it in the camera store, and here are a couple of portraits...

18. I have the older manual focus version of this lens

The newer version you have has a different optical formula. I've been meaning to get the newer version like the one you have, but it just hasn't been put on the top of the priority list yet.

21. Having a fast lens is very handy

If you've ever used an autofocus camera in a dimly lit room, you've probably figured out that autofocus needs decent light to work (actually decent contrast, but you get the idea).

The camera uses the fastest f-stop for autofocus, regardless of which setting it uses for the actual picture. A fast lens means autofocus will work better with less light.
