Women who use little girl voices
OK, all play aside, does this bother other people?

I hear the guys on Love Line talk about this a lot and I'm curius to hear others thoughts.

One of the things that Adm C and Dr. Drew say is that for some women the voice that they use in stressfull times is indicitive of the age at which their development was halted, often by abuse.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a strange guy and I admit it. Women who use that voice can be a real head turner for me and and at other times it's just incongruis and a little creepy.

I answer a public telephone line and just got of the phone with an elementary school teacher who sounded like one of her students.

1. I used to work at a place who had a woman like this....
Had a really, high, squeaky voice just like a little girl. I found it kind of creepy, myself.

5. Duplicity
I find it a little creepy.

I find a little sexy.

I find that a little creepy in myself.

It sure leads to some interesting interactions though.

16. Maybe, maybe not
Do you enjoy being hurt by these women? Does it give you a particular thrill to be abused by these women (I'm talking emotional abuse here mods, don't get any ideas!)?

Finding yourself in a position that you have found yourself before does not mean you enjoy it, just that you failed to learn a lesson the first time you went through it.

3. Very interesting!
One of my *former* close friends used the baby voice, and it annoyed the HELL out of me. She was abused as a child, so that definitely makes sense in her case.

18. I hope someday she
can find a way to excersize those demons.

I know that some of what I do (BDSM, power exchange, Dominance and submission, etc.) is related to and cathartic in dealing with abuse I suffered as a child. To face those situations again, in a different role, in controlled settings, with a partner or partners who understand what's going on can be very enlightening. And scary.

6. i think it depends on why shes doing it
and if shes aware...since i work in Customer Service i sometimes use that voice if i need someone to do a favor.

most of the times i use a normal voice but sometimes excessive girliness helps

10. Like everything else, motives
and if they are aware of them.

This woman just now ... I don't know. Seeme dsort of excesive. Maybe she was still in classroom mode.

THe women who call love line are pretty messed up to begin with and so I have to imagine the ones that are predisposed will fall into it easily while calling a sex show.

7. One of 'em got me coming out of a divorce.
Spoiled me; seemed soooo vulnerable (I was the one who was vulnerable, and she knew it). Man, did she take me for a ride. That was nine years ago; smartened up since then, and any who use that cutesy-poo crap and PDA's are ones to run, not walk, away from.

11. That's a hard trap to miss
some women KNOW when a man is a fixer and can find ways to get under his skin. It can be very appealing to help someone that needs help. It's tough when it turns out that they are using that abuse or reaction to life as a tool though.

14. That is..
one reason I don't like Japanese anime movies. The female characters, regardless of age, speak in such high pitched whiney voices that it drives me mad. It sounds very unnatural.

I don't mean to be a culturalist. I am not a fan of the Jennifer Tilly/Melanie Griffith style of speaking, either, though it does work in comedy.

17. OK...if this tone of voice is natural for you, then fine.
But if it's an affectation you use to get men, then STOP IT!!!!! It drives me insane and does nothing for me!

Ah, that felt good. :D

26. Lots of women do!
Recently I heard a woman raving about noises her lover makes, animalistic, gutteral sorts of noises durring ... moments of excitment. I've also known others who like it a bit rough. :)

On the other hand is the lumberjack affect as much a stress response as the little girl affect? Just opposite sides of a coin?

21. Love Line is often sexist crap
I actually heard one of those idiots tell a caller that girls don't really have orgasms til they're in their 20s. *blink* *blink* Whatever.

I'm figuring this explanation for some women having a higher pitched voice is also so much hooey. Wouldn't be surprised if the real answer had to do with the effect of stress on the vocal chords and surrounding muscles. I mean, some men get the high-pitched squeak too when they're under stress.

25. ehhhh ... wellll ...
With ADam gone, it's LESS sexist. The affest their talking about is stress related and from my own limited personal research they have at least some annicdotal evidence to support it.

Not saying it's true, just some thoughts I've had.

So do you support the theory or do you oppose the theory?

Does annecdotal evidence, by definition mean it is false?

If the pop psycho-babble is correct, and she uses the voice because of some terrible injury done her as a child, then she doesn't need our discrimination on top of it. I just figure it's her style and don't put that much thought into it.
