So I am giving my neighbor a ride to pick up his car at the shop today

As we are pulling out of the subdivision I see a woman with her dog who I have met before. The woman is kind of attractive too. So I roll my neighbors side window down and kind of yell out of it Veronica! And the woman waves and Veronica looks at me with a great big dog smile and wags her big fluffy tail at me. Veronica was named after Veronica Lake because she has beautiful long blond hair. Veronica loves me. We used to have a male Keeshond named Frosty who was Veronicas favorite friend before he passed away. He was her little stud muffin. Veronica sure liked him a lot. Frosty has been gone over a year and Veronica still looks for him through the window when she walks by our house.

So as we are driving my neighbor asks in kind of an inquisitorial kind of way, "You know her good?" I could tell by his voice now he was kind of insinuating I had something going on the side with this woman. I said hell yea, I know her real good. She loves me.

He looked at me funny and asked how long I have known her. I said I had known her since she was a pup about ten years ago.

Then it started to occur to him. He asked me which one was Veronica? I told him Veronica is the dog and that I don't even know the womans name.

My neighbor did a real life face palm right in my car.

1. That's great. My wife and I have observed something similar.
Everyone in the neighborhood seems to know the names of all of the dogs, but we usually don't remember the names of neighbors we rarely speak with other than to say "hi" to the dog.

2. Honestly after over 20 years living here I know very few of my neighbors names
I know them as Coopers parents.(The chocolate labs owners)

Or Murphys parents.(The black labs owners)

Or Jakes mom and dad.(The beagles owners)

Or Hamiltons brother.(The standard poodles owner)

That is exactly the way everyone does it out here.

It can be hot, cold, or raining outside but I still enjoy walking my dog. We would both prefer nice weather but we still go regardless. Twice a day, 365 days a year. Two mile each walk unless the weather is real bad and then we cut it short. But we go. My dog really likes meeting her doggy friends. Seems to mean a lot to her.

3. I think the same thing happens when you've got kids
You may know all the parents in your child's classroom by which child they belong to. (Lily's dad, Michelle's mom, etc.)

4. Cute story.
I bet your neighbor feels silly with his insinuation about any "relationship" with Veronica's mommy.
