Poll question: Should I frequent this restaurant?
Edited on Tue Apr-06-04 06:15 PM by HypnoToad
Went there today:

Saw the supervisor. Vicious type-A ASS HOLE, mean and pushing everybody around. He was harsh, though I give him credit for working on the front lines. Most supervisors don't give a fuck. He even said "Gracias" to a Spanish speaking worker, in sarcasm, as he'd thrown out a plate of what this management would probably call "freedom fries". Indeed, this guy actually FIRED one of the wait staff in front of our eyes! :wow:

Saw the head owner, he was looking at the clientele to see how their reaction was during lunchtime. It was jam-packed with customers and the pace was insane... He also looked at:

a third guy, also in a suit. He conversed with the head owner and the supervisor, and a posh looking lady (a suit-ette?).

Saw the wait staff. I counted 6 heteros of varying genders, 1 lesbian lady, and 2 gay guys. All mid-20s. I liked the gay guys and the co-worker who was with me noticed that one of them in particular was giving me more attention. (of course, unlike me, she had the guts to talk to the guy!)

Saw those cooking the meals: Four white guys and two Spanish speaking (presumably Mexican). They were being worked to death. Oddly enough, the Spanish speaking workers appeared less stressed.

Saw the food: Looked like stock fare, not worthy of the prices they wanted. However, the food tasted GREAT.

So, should I go back? The food is decent and there are two guys I'd also like to drool over. (I gave the fellow a 30% extra tip, though I forgot to write my phone number on it... )

Isn't corporate America great? (substitute that question if you wish. It was clear who was manager and who was worker. I felt sorry for the workers...)

2. I'd tell the head owner you won't be back because
.. the supervisor makes the whole meal uncomfortable.

Go after the supervisor's ass, unless of course the owner is afraid of him too.

3. I don't think I'd eat there.
I'd always be uncomfortable supporting a restuarant where people are berated and even fired in front of the guests, good food and cute wait staff notwithstanding. Aside from being cruel, the supervisor seems to have forgotten that a restaurant should be a place where people want to have a good experience. Watching some asshole scream at someone who made a mistake is not my idea of a good experience.

4. I'd put the restaurants's name all over the internet!
Maybe he'll get the message to treat his employees with respect.

I hate those assholes!

5. LOL!!!!!!!!!
I forgot the name and I paid in cash today... Watch for this tomorrow. I don't want to guess right now to defame somebody who doesn't deserve to be.

6. How the heck do you detect someone's sexual orientation?
I have gotten that completely wrong so many times, I've long since given up even trying to guess.

7. I have written letters to the management and ownership of restaurants
where I see unfair (i.e. public humiliation of the wait staff.) Unless the waiter was verbally abusive to a customer or some other huge mistake that affected the clientele, he was out of line. That kind of stuff should be handled behind closed doors. I would tell him that while you enjoy the food, the atmosphere leaves a little to be desired and that you are willing to give them one more chance to correct the situation. :hi:
