4. I got lucky this year
I ended up in a conversation with my friend's dad. He was in the Air Force during WWII. He was a mechanic and had some pretty fascinating stories. I found myself "interviewing" him for about a half hour. The best part is that as he told these stories his face lit up and he got animated and it was almost like sitting at the kids' table. Best Thanksgiving I've had in years. Food was great, too...they had turkey AND ham. But most importantly, it was a holiday in the company of some wonderful people, and it has been a LONG time since I've experienced that.
