The thing I did this morning that I hate doing, because it means winter is upon us and I hate winter, was to rearrange the garage, put the mower to the back, bring the snow plow blade and the snowblower to the front, prep the cable that runs the plow blade's motor, fill the salt bins and put them out where they sit for the winter, and finally put several gallons of windshield washer fluid, cans of dry gas, bottles of windshield de-icer, a shovel and a container of salt in each vehicle.

4. Clean up pet "stuff"
We have a rule at my house--the person who sees the dog vomit, etc. has to clean it up. My wife has special filtered lenses that do not let in any evidence of these leavings. So I always seem to find it!

7. I vacuumed. Then the hose got plugged before I have finished. So it sits there on the middle of the
floor while I procrastinate on what to do.

10. clean the toilet
I absolutely hate cleaning the toilet. But I hate anything less than a pristine toilet even more. I dread doing it but can't ever put it off for another day because the thought of even a slightly less than pristine toilet grosses me out too much to put off cleaning it. So, I don the hazmat suit and the double thick rubber elbow gloves, arm myself with all manner of bleaching, scrubbing and disinfecting products and tools, grit my teeth and get to it complaining with disgust all the while.

Sometimes i dream of a day when I can afford to pay someone to clean my toilet, but it's a pipe dream not just because of the financial aspect but the bizarre disgust of someone else touching my toilet. I know, I know. But it's MY throne!

rather than get off their asses and clean. And, yes, I cleaned the toilet today. Without being asked because I HAD TO!

14. I'm very sorry if its a recent thing and you're still grieving....
I know how hard it is to lose those we love during the holiday season (or any season). Just know that your friends at DU are here for you regardless

15. Thank you. It was two months ago
So it's still pretty fresh and it's hard to take in. Also, it was quite unexpected, an accident. She fell down the stairs during a power outage when Hurricane Irene came through and spent three weeks in intensive care in Albany (NY), so I drove over 100 miles every day to visit her. I was hopeful because she seemed to be improving, so losing her was really a shock.

I don't know what possessed me to post that here, and I apologize, but it's on my mind most of the time. Thank you so much for your kind words. It's been up to me to take care of things, and I helped my mother when she's had these duties in the past, so I knew what she'd want and hoped she'd be pleased. I'm also executor, so it's like I'm still doing things for her, a small comfort...

17. Please don't feel that you need to apologize for anything....I know very well
the pain you're feeling. I lost my mom in 1999 after a long illness. It was expected but that didn't lessen the pain at all. I think about her daily, cook her recipes and tell her stories to anyone who will listen.

It really hurts to lose someone who loves you unconditionally. I hope you have a good support system, people who care and let you know it. As meaningless as it may seem from someone you've never met, I offer my sincere sympathy. It does get better-it just takes a while.....
