1. I grew up on the original Broadway cast album...

...of South Pacific and can't possibly tell you how many times I've heard "Some Enchanted Evening," both original and reprise.

And I still prefer basses and baritones to tenors. ;-)

3. My parents were SERIOUSLY into R&H.
And I still think fondly of those albums playing on the hi-fi.

5. Ezio Pinza: When I was
13, my mom, who was a teacher, came home from school on afternoon very upset about the vulgar, hip-gyrating singer her teacher friends had been discussing. They’d said he was making teenage girls everywhere swoon and exhibit unladylike behavior. My older sister and I asked her the name of this singer. My mom said, “Edmund Purdom. No, wait...it’s Ezio Pinza.”

Of course, she meant Elvis Presley. My sister and I had never heard of Elivs, but it wasn’t long before we saw him on Ed Sullivan and like other girls, were swooning and exhibiting unladylike behavior.

Thanks for the link. Very nice!

6. Giorgio Tozzi!
Cast as Emile in the movie "South Pacific" when I was about 6, over 50 years ago. My mother took me to see it and I have been in love with musicals ever since. She bought me the album- I learned every song and had a dance for all of them!!! Then 15 years later when I first saw the man I was to marry- this song immediately came to mind..."across a crowded room you will meet a stranger"...... just like in the movie!! Thanks for the road down memory lane!!!
