I cook bacon in the oven quite often. It doesn't spew bacon effervescence like cooking it in a frying pan does.

Unless the bacon holds in all of the fat from the turkey skin, and how healthy could THAT be?

9. okay, I'll admit to doing this.
I had a pack of bacon ends last week and some were awesome, almost entirely lean meat, but I was down to the bits and pieces that were mostly fat. Sometimes I use those as grease to sautee green beans, but on thanksgiving it made sense to put them all on the turkey to baste it.
