How long do you want to live?

And by "live" I mean "live." You can walk, pee, have sex, eat food that tastes good, etc...

Me? If I could do that until I'm 150, that would be nice. But I'm not holding my breath.

That's my biggest milestone at the moment.

I think 84 is a good compromise.

stick with 95 - your dad and bro died too young and 95 is the youngest your mom would want for you :D

My parents are still alive and living independently and they're in their 90's! :wow:

Way back in the 60's, I saw an interview with Adela Rogers St. John (journalist, novelist) who was asked the same question. She said she would like to live long enough to see how it all turns out.

We just read an obit where the husband died 4 days after his beloved wife. We both agreed that that would be the way to go.

Once the health starts going and my kids are grown I am going to start smoking again. I miss it so. Then a nice drunken "fall" should speed the inheritance along. No need to linger. Kids are grown when I'm 67. Any time after that the smoking and falling plan goes into effect, especially if my wife is gone.

I've done a whole lot to stay healthy--I mean, over the years everything I've learned about nutrition and exercise has been validated by experts, and I'm an Ashkenazi Jew, and long life is in the genes. So all systems go, right?

However...now that I'm 3 years away from my 60th and 40 more years is totally feasible, I'm starting to re-think this whole concept! I don't think I can afford myself after age 85, I have seriously no money and can't stop working for a long, long time. Yikes! Don't know if my brain is gonna be able to last as long as my body anyway, so I'll probably get fired from any job I attempt after a certain age.

The moral of my story: be careful what you wish for!

as an older mom that's a big wish ... but most of all I'd like them to both live much longer than me. Could not bear losing them.
