1. I like the way you think.

Do me a favor...borrow the money from SunTrust. Also on the loan paperwork, let us call this tank "home improvement" as you can get HUD to subsidize home-improvement loans.

Also, you don't want the one in the picture, ammo gets pricey. You want the one with the cow-catcher and the barrel that is reinforced for battering. That way you can just run into things with it and watch as they concede to its' 1000HP drive and 6T mass.

2. Probably ended up doing some pretty serious hard time, but an INSTANT legend in Germany...
.
.
.
... was some sergeant who was in a gasthaus drinking and they pissed him
off... gave him the boot, I think.
.
.
.
He stumbled back to his post, drove a tank over/through the front gate
that had them "locked in", drove back to the gasthaus and put the turret
through its front window...
.
.
.
... and just moved it back-and-forth... back-and-forth... back-and-forth.
.
.
.
You better BELIEVE instant legend!!!!
.
.
.
Nobody hurt. Not TOO much damage. Point WELL-FUCKING-MADE!!!!
.
.
.

8. When I was in Armor AIT @ Ft Knox in '73 we had a tank

stolen. We had just gotten a new/rebuild M60A1 and since it was new and had that 'New Tank Smell' we were getting it ready for a parade.
One night PFC Pippen, a recycle, got some kind of drugged up or just crazy. He wanted to use the phone, Disney Barracks, and CQ would not let him as he wanted to call Long Distance.
He got crazy pissed off and broke every window in the Day Room and went to the motor pool and fired up that tank. He drove down to the old PX by the RR overpass, where he stopped and the MP's beat the hell out of him.
On the way though he left a path of destruction telephone poles, street lights, just beau coup damage but the best was the 17 new MP sedans, new Fords of some kind, that he neutral steered on.

I had forgotten this and I wonder what happened to him. I went to Germany a week or so later and never found out. Leavenworth? Well, I had been around him enough to know he was a bit unstable but not this crazy.
It was pretty funny in a way.

Edit to add on. From the intertubes
"Fire Lt. Scott Harper also noted that at one time the post’s military police were housed in the building. On May 11, 1973, a disgruntled Soldier who had a beef with the MPs stole an M60 tank, and after squashing two cars, drove directly into the side of the building causing extensive structural damage. However, instead of tearing down that part of the building and rebuilding from scratch, the damage was repaired and the firehouse continued its business."

Stories and also for your service. My oldest brother was in the "seven steps to hell" armored in Germany, early 60s. :-) (two older brothers, both in the army.)

Mileage sort of sucks. You have to measure it in gallons/mile.

12. Cool Stories!!! My Flamethrower
Tank would be more fun though. You could stencil "CANNED HEAT" on the turrent, and blast Arthur Browns "Fire" over the pa system while barbequeing, like the tanks in "Kellys Heroes"! And you wouldn't have any "negative waves"! :-P
