Any Great Pyrenees ( dog) owners here?
I just spotted a gorgeous photo of a Pyr in a comment on a latest breaking news thread (from Fudge Stripe Cookay) and wonder if anybody else out there owns one (or more) of these beautiful beasts. We've got two, Sido is the female, Bhalu the male, and they are sweetest and laziest critters god ever made. Our three cats walk all over them and they don't mind a bit. The Pyrs make marvelous political sandwich boards at election time. They've strolled through our neighborhood wearing Gore posters, Rendell posters (PA Gov) Street posters (Philly Mayor's race) and this fall will, of course be sporting Kerry signs. Since they are huge and snowy white, they make a perfect background for red white and blue campaign stuff.

1. Great Dog!
They might chase bears but don't let them mess with
cougars or larger. Wild cats always eat dogs.

4. We're not likely to run into cougars
in Philadelphia. And I have a hunch ours wouldn't chase so much as a squirrel...as a matter of fact, I've watched them stare curiously at rabbits, without moving a muscle to chase them! Our little housecats rule around here..the Pyrs put up with everything.

2. Sandwich board, indeed!
Here is Fargo wearing his Dean-wear during our "Deliciously Dean Dessert 'Do" January 30th.

I do plan on advertising with him a bit more as campaign season progresses. =)

5. I've got a few...none digital...
Being from the cave person school of technology, I have yet to master the kind of pics easily transferred by computer. But I will seek assistance around here and try to oblige with pics. In the meantime, I can advise that a really simple way to deck out dogs this size is to put bumper sticker size signs on red or blue towels and hang the towels over the dogs' backs like saddles. (You have to do a little harnessing, but it ain't complicated.) They make a big hit. Even Republicans smile. They may not switch, but they smile.

6. Ha! I'll have to try that!
I can't wait! Wish I could take him with me to Washington for the pro-choice rally.
