I saw HELLBOY on Easter weekend and I loved it
Edited on Sat Apr-10-04 11:25 PM by Paragon
Funny thing is, my sister & her husband (who've probably never read a comic & don't have too many ironic bones in their bodies) saw it last weekend and hated it.

1. no it wasn't
I've read the comics, and the movie sucked!!! They didn't even bother with the plot. They had two minutes of plot setup and then the rest was just random ass-kicking of monsters. Lame as all hell.

3. Thankfully, I never read the Hellboy comics
Didn't have to have a "fanboy" reaction. Spider-Man 2 and The Punisher, on the other hand...

2. I heard it was a real work of love...
There was a diddy in Wired about the pains taken to really make the film seem like the comic. I thought the commercials looked weak but I definately plan on seeing it soon.

4. I thought it was great
lots of insider humor and the creatures were incredibly detailed and well done. The plot was telegraphed, but that's the kind of movie it was. The acting was aok too.Well done!

5. I loved it too
I saw it last weekend though. I loved the Lovecraft references (wasn't Cthulhu in there maybe?) Ron Perlman was wonderful in the role and I'm not that familiar with the comic either, but it does make me want to read it now.

6. Never ever read the comic, and I STILL loved it
Perlman is great, and the character is just awesome anyway with his cats and his "Aw, crap" sarky dialog. There's a little bit of Hellboy hiding in everyone. I can't wait for the sequel.
