HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edited on Sat Apr-10-04 11:32 PM by ih8thegop
For the Lord God omnipotent Reigneth!

That's right, Christians - let us celebrate!

:bounce:

HE IS RISEN!!!!!!!!

:toast:

Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

(p.s. I hope I'm not disturbing any non-Christians. I'm just in a really happy mood.)

5. Amen.
Though here, Easter isn't observed for a half hour yet.

However, I have the feeling that during the time of His resurrection, the world didn't really care about time zones anyway. In Israel, the sun is probably rising by now.

6. Leonard Cohen
Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this he fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew her
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well, really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light in every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I learned to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my lips but Hallelujah

additional verses

Baby, I've been here before.
I know this room, I've walked this floor.
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch,
But love is not some kind of victory march,
No it's a cold and it's a very broken Hallelujah.

There was a time you let me know
What's really going on below,
but now you never show it to me, do you?
I remember when I moved in you,
And the holy dove was moving too,
and every breath we drew was Hallelujah.

Now maybe there's a God above,
As for me, all I ever learned from love
Is how to shoot at someone who outdrew you.
and it's no complaint you hear tonight,
and It's not some pilgrim who's seen the light
it's a cold and it's a very lonely Hallelujah.

Halleleujah, let me sock it to ya
Praise the Lord, and pass the mescaline.
Great Jehovah, you’ll come over
Soon as you see me boogie-woogie ’cross the silver screen.

11. Here are my prayers.
Almighty One,
We ask You for peace, help, safety, and courage. Give us peace in our hearts and our world, help in our efforts to make it so, safety from the evil plans of warmongers and egomaniacs, and courage to do what must be done to achieve peace.
We pray in all of Your many names.
Amen

For our soldiers, all Iraqi civilians, and all other innocents:
Psalm 91:10-16
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

15. He hung out with all us sinners, in places like The Lounge
I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for Jesus Christ (not organized religion) I'm a believer, a Christian, and part of Judeo-Christian culture that doesn't advocate or participate in activities like killing in His name,or His Father's name (sisters, I have doubts about the paternal stuff too) or other evil hateful shit directed at non-believers. I'm also an American that loves the seperation of church and state that we are regaining from BFEE.
He is our Passover.
Amen.

19. One of the hymns from this morning
Edited on Sun Apr-11-04 02:45 PM by Lydia Leftcoast
Hail thee, festival day
Blest day that art hallowed forever
Day whereon Christ arose
Breaking the kingdom of death...

We had a splendid service, with the choir singing a Te Deum in B-flat by Stanford/Parry/one of those guys and "Haec dies" by Byrd.

By the way, our service bulletin contained a statement that the Jews were not responsible for the death of Jesus, that God is still in covenant with the Jews, that they do not need to be "saved," and that anti-Semitism is a sin. I suppose that's a reaction to the furor over Mel's film.
