FLOOD KEITH OLBERMANN'S EMAIL
Pass this on, I know it's old news, but it's only getting stronger. Keith Olbermann at MSNBC is covering this. It's turning into a relationship of if we support him, he'll support us. He is our way to the mainstream. Have everybody email him right now, flood his email, hell close his email down. The word is out, major media wants to close this story down, Olbermann is our only window of opportunity. People are posting everywhere and emailing about the Olbermann movement, we need friends and family to help out, and send Olbermann our mandate. There's a few groups out there sending tons of emails, and making posts all over the net, a real movement to get Olbermann to fully support our efforts. Let's make some noise DU, before big media shuts this story down!!! Email him right now with your statements!!! KOlbermann@msnbc.com

3. Keith's Newsletter for today
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight on Countdown
------------------------------------------------------

Why should voters go gently into that good night?
Decide for yourself.

But here's the problem. It is multi-part.

Sometimes there where more votes than voters (Keith's blog: Cuyahoga County, Ohio. In 29 precincts there, the County's website shows, we had the most unexpected results in years: more votes than voters.)

Sometimes the votes skewed wildly against the known party affiliation. (Keith's blog: 29 of those Florida counties had large Democratic majorities among registered voters but produced landslides for President Bush. )

Sometimes the machines simply screwed up -- the instances where these problems were caught and fixed are how we know this.

The Los Angeles Times today mentioned some of the problems, and alluded to the growing blogosphere that will not let this story go.

If you want to know the facts behind all this, and why Keith vigorously pursues it, read his blog, and watch Countdown all this week.

As for that L.A. Times piece, here's a chunk.
"David Dill, a Stanford University computer expert, said that based on reports that Dill's organization - Verified Voting.org - has received, one precinct in Youngstown, Ohio, recorded a negative 25 million votes, which was discarded from official results. And it was widely reported after Nov. 2 that a North Carolina precinct lost 4,000 votes when a recording device used up all its memory but voters continued to cast ballots on the machine."
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/2004/la-na-ohio9nov09,1,6497338.story?coll=la-news-elect2004

Keith blogs:
"Representative John Conyers of Michigan... now leads a small but growing group of Democratic congressmen who've written the General Accountability Office demanding an investigation of what we should gently call the Electronic Voting Angst. Conyers insisted he wasn't trying to re-cast the election, but seemed mystified that in the 21st Century we could have advanced to a technological state in which voting- fine, flawed, or felonious- should leave no paper trail. ... By actual rough count, between the 8 p.m. ET start of the program and 10:30 p.m. ET last night, we received 1,570 e-mails (none of them duplicates or forms, as near as I can tell). 1,508 were positive, 62 negative." Read the whole blog...

Countdown w/ Keith Olbermann broadcasts LIVE at 8 pm et, and the count is never complete without you. Join us.

While the above may be, in part, a summary of what Keith covered in the top of yesterday's Countdown, consider it a primer for tonight. There's more.

Some of the other stories we're working on for tonight's show:

* U.S. forces reach center of Fallujah. 14 Americans killed in fighting over 2 days in city, elsewhere. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6403689/

* More on Bush's cabinet shift.

* Mo Rocca.

Finally,
A case of dirty, dirty laundry. Italy's tough anti-Mafia investigators were mystified as to how imprisoned mob boss Leonardo Vitale continued to run the "family business" from jail. The writing was not on the wall, so to speak, but it was right in front of their faces, when they finally chose to look.
Turns out Vitale had been smuggling messages out with laundry given to visiting relatives. When investigators finally caught on, the information produced a bonanza. 300 officers, aided by helicopters and police dogs, arrested 24 people in connection with an extortion ring, including Vitale's wife.
OK, OK, but can we get back to that LAUNDRY thing?
Now... why was the prison letting Vitale send his laundry out?
If we find out, we'll let you know.

-- Carey Fox

4. Why would we want to "shut down" his mail?
Send him letters of support, hell yes. But flood or "shut down" his email account? Isn't that kind of counter-productive?

5. He helped, and now you suggest annoying him???
I say, email if you want to thank him, or to send him additional news (note what he said on his blog about the importance of VERIFIABLE SOURCES), but why would we want to annoy this person who has been the only one reasonable enough to present the story in a national forum?????
And, just because some others may be doing so doesn't mean we should.

AND, where did you get the idea the story would be shut down? Is that just a rumor? Because apparently there was also a rumor that the story would never be run at all, wasn't there? And we know that wasn't true, because Olbermann ran it last night.

If all he gets is 2000 contentless emails, how's he gonna find the one with the smoking gun in it?

7. No it's good to shut him down.
Word has it that NBC said they will only allow him to cover the story "while rating and interest is (and I quote) "damn good"!!!

If we shut it down that shows there is plenty of interest, many groups came together with this idea, and word has it the Olbermann team is "loving it" that the over loaded emails is their proof. So let's stop arguing for once among ourselves and keep the endless amount of emails being written to Olbermann and all the other media shows that pick up on Olbermann's success for carrying the story "no one was interested in carrying" Every day...all the time. With facts and opinions. We must be heard not passive. Please, I really believe in you guys, so less coming down on those trying, and help us make some noise, the many of us, individuals and groups.

8. Don't Overwhelm Keith's Mailbox. Send evidence, not junk
Anyway, if Kerry doesn't request a recount this whole thing will die and it won't be for lack of trying by Oldermann.

1. Kerry promised that all the votes would be counted. 55 million Americans subscribed to that. He needs to fulfill his promise. I'm hearing nothing but severe criticisms of him here in Mass by people who voted for him. They won't forget or forgive.

2. There is a fine line between a quitter and a troublemaker. Kerry may not want to "make waves" thinking about 2008. But as far as I'm concerned, if he doesn't want to investigate these reports of possible fraud, then he's political roadkill. The soul of Democracy is the truth, and Kerry has to honor that before his own personal political agenda.

3. If we don't investigate, there is little if any hope that we will be able to mount a turnout like we just did. People stood in line for 10 hours to vote and we are willing to let their votes be thrown in the trash. Next time we need those voters they will stay home, so we are slitting out own political throats by not getting recounts.

4. If we don't demand recounts, the perpetrators will take it as an open invitation to commit the same frauds in 2006 and 2008. Kerry and the DNC are delusional. By not acting and fighting we are guaranteeing that all the setups will be in place for our future defeats and it will be a no win situation. We have to take a stand and fight now or else...

5. Elaborating on #4, recounts would serve to focus the national spotlight on the evils and unreliability of electronic voting. The measures in Congress to mandate a paper trail have been languishing for over 18 months. We have a small window of opportunity to act; if we don't we'll never get the electronic genie back into the bottle.

6. The history of voting in America is the history of vote recounts and rigged elections. Besides it's our Christian duty to recount the votes to insure that no crimes have been committed and the will of the people is being expressed accurately. The worst the Repugs could do is accuse us of being sore losers and we could take that charge and ram it back down their throats.

7. Even if the votes are recounted and the final results don't change we won't be hurt for trying. There is no evidence that fighting in FL in 2000 cost us any votes and it won't now. We have more votes to lose by not fighting and everything from a strategic political aspect.

10. This is about us, not Kerry.
We are making our own mandate. Word has it the Uk and Australia has begun email Olbermann. Yes, send evidence, send facts, but also send opinions and thanks to Olbermann, word has it NBC is upset but the Olbermann team is loving, claiming "hey what can we do, we cxan't stop the emails."

Word has it that NBC said they will only allow him to cover the story "while rating and interest is (and I quote) "damn good"!!!

11. It's working
I just heard a report that NBC gave him extra support to continue the story based on feedback from phone calls and emails, and other networks are getting calls and emails asking for a more Olbermann like approach (An Olbermann like approach!!! Crazy) as well members of the right media have begun to dismiss Olbermann as fake news and is worse than Dan Rather and should be pulled from Network news.

KEEP EMAILING HIM!!! SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!

17. This thread is quite old and very confusing. What is Olbermann
Edited on Fri Jul-01-05 04:58 PM by Radio_Lady
currently covering and how can we help?

I haven't watched his show since the end of last year. Is his blog still active? I'll check it at http://www.bloggermann.com

On edit:

It looks as if Keith Olbermann has returned to ESPN Sports Radio. Is he really coming back to "Countdown"???

Anyone know the update about him?

His blog hasn't been updated since June 23rd. The messages in this thread date back to NOVEMBER, 2004, just after the election.

Moderators -- IMHO, this thread should be ARCHIVED because of age as well as incomplete, and incorrect information.
