1. Aloe Body lotion and moist towelettes
The sun and sand and wind are hell on their skin. They also like some kind of baby wipes; convenient to use and feels good. Thanks for your efforts from a military retiree.

5. Holiday items for troops
I was in Iraq last year around this time, so I can speak a little on things troops would like.

I know it might sound a little crazy but we all got a kick out Christmas decorations. Lights, mini-trees, and other such -- It was nice to have some familiar things around.

In general troops seemed to like the following, some items are based on resources available, most places have microwaves, DVD players and such in base camps.

1)Powdered drink mix - Kool-aid, Crystal light etc.(nothing you have to add sugar to)
2)Batteries AA, AAA, C, D etc
3)Pocket hand-warmers, though it doesn't get too cold it can feel downright chilly
4)DVDs, any kind but ones of TV shows movies they might have missed would be appreciated
5)Junk food - pringles, twinkies, etc. anything that ships well
6)Those Starkist Tuna lunch kits,, a welcome break from the chow halls and MREs
7)Dried fruit
8)Brown T-shirts and black socks
9)Beef Jerky

This is just what I could come up with off the top of my head. We liberals and progressives and democrats need to be active and visible in our support for troops, even as we oppose the war. I'm tired of hearing the repukes who are most likely to support the war but not be willing to sacrifice for the troops. We need to take care of troops actively deployed and after they get home. We needed to demand dedicated funding for veterans issues and make sure no more promises to our veterans go unfulfilled.

7. DOES ANYONE HAVE AN ADDRESS TO SEND TO?
Also, do I need to send individual packages or will they split the stuff up for individual soldiers?

6. I'm all for sending the troops stuff to make their kidnapping tolerable
but I'm also very sad that they are there in the first place and even sadder and extremely disgusted that they aren't paid well enough to be able to pay to purchase this stuff for themselves. (I know they don't have stores they can wander into to pick this stuff up but they have families that could act as their personal shoppers.)

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm really pissed that the * administration pays lip service to honoring and respecting the truth but doesn't back it up with reality.

That said: are any stores or companies giving discounts for stuff purchased for the troops or are they holding out their blood stained greedy hand to reap the profits?
