Activism--Simple , affordable and FUN!
I posted this as a response on a marginally related thread, but thought it might be more appropriate here. This is not a new idea at all, but it is fun, and has been good therapy for me, and maybe it will be for someone else too.

I have been creating fliers on the computer, with simple headlines about the stolen election, comments about the silent media, big names who are working on this (eg Nader), website addresses like BBV.org and DU.com, eye-catching graphics, unflattering photos of Bush ...etc. I printed out 100 the other day on bright gold and red paper for a total of about $8. I keep a stack of these in my car, and whenever I go into any store, gas station, office building, etc., I bring a few in and scatter them around, like next to newspaper displays & magazine stands (cover up mags you don't like!), or even put them among merchandise--like in the deodorant aisle at Walgreens :D

I was feeling somewhat discouraged, because I wondered if I was really inspiring anybody to join our fight, but my husband told me to keep it up, because the posters would energize others who feel the way we do! Made me feel 100% better, because I hadnt thought of it, and he is right.

1. sounds great to me.
I have been using labels printed on the PC. I put them on right wing books and everywhere I can. I managed to get Wal-mart to hide their right wing books also the local grocery store. Small accomplishments but it makes me feel good.

4. I did lots of flyering before Nov. 2 and am planning on new flyers
for the post Nov. 2 period. I am a tad more of an anarchist, I glue my flyers to metal utility poles, newspaper racks and bus shelters using 3M Spray Adhesive from Staples.

To download high res files of my flyers for printing go to:

6. excellent........
So good you are reminding (or educating) the public of his lies...

Can you tell me how to post jpegs here? I have some great pictures of Bush that I would love to post.

I have been waiting for the rain to stop, so I can start stapling more of these to kiosks and utility poles --it's been raining all week here! Hadn't thought of SPRAY GLUE!

8. go to photobucket.com
http://photobucket.com

sign up for an account, upload your JPGs or GIFs, click on the photo, right click and select properties, then copy the URL of the photo, paste that into your DU message.

The spray glue is great, they hold up even through rain and take a lot of time to peel off. The TWO-FACED graphic looks good in an urban setting. If you glue them to innercity utility poles at high traffic intersections they get a lot of views. It's too hard for repukes to pull over to peel them off.

9. The poem/rap was very popular with African-American youth
I need to update it for post Nov. 2 world. I need to change the last 2 refrains. Suggestions?

George Bush is a punk ass bitch
Crony capitalist all about the rich

Dumbass sat for 7 minutes like a dope
While schoolkids read 'My Pet Goat'

No WMD in Iraq you fool
Iran got nukes, N. Korea do too

Kerry punked Bush in each debate
Idiot boy Bush could not relate

Punk ass bitch can kiss my ass
Back to Texas like rained on trash

November 2nd is when I vote
Not for the fool who read 'My Pet Goat'

3. You made my day!
Woke up this morning feeling discouraged about the uphill battle against corporate disinformation. Just knowing that there are people like you out there with the imagination and drive to come up with new ways to get the message out gives me hope!

:toast:

I bought a package of magnet sheets at the office supply store so I could print my own car magnets.

5. Great idea!
I might try your car magnet idea! What about sticking small ones on bathroom doors? Could probably fit a bunch of them in my purse... :D
