the biggest shopping day of the year is traditionally the day after Thanksgiving. There are many who plan to stay home that day or protest at a gov bdlg.

Grab a sign and stand out at the mall urging boycott for election reform

1. Yes. I will not be shopping that day.
And in fact, I am actively attempting to re-configure my life so that I can provide only minimal financial support for the large Republican corporations out there (i.e., shopping at local markets, scaling down my consumption of large luxury goods, actively patronizing "Blue" companies and avoiding "Red" ones, outright refusing to participate in a consumer Christmas this year, etc...).

I think that if many of us started trying to do that on a individual scale, it might make a huge difference collectively. And money is the only thing those greedy bastards understand, so it might result in more change in the long run than protesting would. And nobody can come along and accuse me of sedition or treason or anything else for doing that; neither can they force me to buy their tainted products.

4. Not shopping, but also...
Changed many brands already from repuke supported companies.
You can find a list of them at http://www.boycottbush.com

Any Christmas gifts will come from antique/craft stores.

I don't watch programs on Sinclair channels anymore.
Won't watch movies with certain actors anymore.
Whatever I can do in my own small way makes a difference at least to ME, and that matters more than anything.

2. Yes!
I had a friend even suggest a good diversion - Bring a thermos, sit in a public mall, and watch all the shoppers go crazy. I'm going to try to adhere to the strict "No money changes hands" rule, so I'm thinking if I put money on my transit card tomorrow, since the transit company has the money already, I can still travel. A little on the edge of kosher, I know.

6. And I'd like to make a pitch.
For political reasons, my suggestion is that a person should try out Linux, and see if they can wean themselves off that worst-of-all-corporations, Microsoft. I first got into Linux for political reasons, and I've been using Linux to run my computer for a few years now, both at home and at work. I work at a computer-intensive job, so it's had some ups and downs, but as of now it works very well, and has for quite a while. You're basically running your computer via the results of an international science project rather than a corporate scam. You can save lots of money, and get everything done just fine. There are even games!

For most people this seems, and has seemed for years, too daunting, but here's the secret: Get somebody who knows about it to help you! Believe me, there are a lot of folks who would be very willing to help in your area, at a local college for instance. They can show you how it works on your own computer without touching any of your setup. Working together creates a human-to-human connection, not just a monetary one, and it could even be fun. At a time like this, isn't the human contact and collaboration more of a selling point than a detractor?

3. RIGHT-O and MORE...
We aren't even doing Thanksgiving!! That's why I'm still here, don't have all that cooking to do for the Big Day!

My daughter and son live close by and we always did things up BIG for T-Day, but sitting this one out. My daughter's husband is working and her kids will be with their father. My husband took his mother to visit her only living brother, my son is seperated, so we just decided since everything fell apart that we would do our own little NO To Thanksgiving this year.

Don't feel all that chipper... so why not?

5. Me, neither
I don't even plan on decorating for Christmas except for a black ribbon on the front door and single blue candles in the front windows.

9. HEY... I Think This Is Good!
I was planning on not doing Christmas too, but I LIKE the BLACK RIBBON thing. We HAVE to get this going! We could even attach notes as to the reason WHY???

Hang them on trees, poles, fences... lots of places! It won't seem sacrilegious if we say WHY!

7. No Holiday plans here, either. Buying only things we absolutely NEED.
Don't feel much like celebrating ANYTHING this year.

11. Can Someone Start a Thread???
I think we have a rule about having to post 250 times before we can start a thread so I'm disqualified. BUT, I really like the BLACK RIBBONS and BLUE CANDLES idea for Christmas.

Besides... I don't even know HOW to start a thread. I could use some help with this too, I'm getting close to my numbers.

Would someone make the suggestion about the Black Ribbon/Blue Candles??
Thank you
