Towards a United Demonstration on Oct. 25
Towards a United Demonstration on Oct. 25

The national steering committee of United for Peace and Justice has agreed to join ANSWER as co-sponsors of the Oct. 25 March on the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. to demand an End to the U.S. Occupation of Iraq. We are committed to involve all antiwar groups and people in this important event, and hope that you will join us in Washington or organize local actions on that day. UFPJ will provide more information and updates in the coming weeks

1. Road Trip!!!!
Although I don't see how we can just pack up and leave now that we have wrecked their country, but something has to change.

8. I agree - can't just pack up and leave
Oct. 25 March on the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. to demand an End to the U.S. Occupation of Iraq.

If the message is shifted a bit, the protest can draw much broader support.

Instead of protesting to "demand an End to the U.S. Occupation of Iraq", how about protesting to "demand the release of Iraq control to the U.N."?

What I am suggesting is something like a "surrender" of Iraq to the U.N. Any way one wants to look at it, the U.S. will lose / has lost this war. It's time they fessed up.

2. This has been a definite problem in the peace movement
I would like to copy this to someone. Do you have any sort of link for this? You and I have discussed that this is a problem before.

At our peace group meetings, we are still batting around the issue of whether we should turn Iraq over to the UN or just withdraw and leave Iraq to sort it out. A.N.S.W.E.R. seems to feel the latter is correct.

occupation of Iraq' does not rule out an international force under the UN (and not one under US command as they say they want now)
---------
The two groups are negotiating the platform and speakers which should be a good thing. Further info should be posted at www.unitedforpeace.org early next week.

3. If you can't get to D.C.
why not help organize bus trips and if you want a protest in your city, why not organize one? For some cities and towns, you need to secure your permit months in advance. NOW is the time to check.

United for Peace and Justice offers an activist toolkit here:

And tips for organizing here:
