National Preparedness Month: LTTEs

Its National Preparedness Month! Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff launched the second annual National Preparedness Month on September 1, 2005, following last year’s inaugural run that included more than 80 organizations and all 56 states and territories.
Are we supposed to believe that the rescue and relief efforts being employed by a dismantled FEMA in the Gulf Coast are a result of the federal government’s preparedness? Then why is Mayor Nagin of New Orleans still begging for help? Were there contingency plans to cover for the absent National Guardsmen, their amphibious vehicles and helicopters that are stationed in Iraq? Do people still believe that the George W. Bush is going to keep us safe, or is “Preparedness” just an empty Republican slogan?
