The entire Virginia state legislature is up for election on Tuesday, November 4. Casting your ballot is one important way to advance your values, but it may not be your most powerful tool. By volunteering for progressive candidates, you can help turn out the votes that will be the winning margin in close races right here in Northern Virginia.

All progressive campaigns in your area will need volunteers in the next 9 days, especially on Election Day and the weekend before. The Religious Right's influence in the state legislature has grown over the past two elections, and it's time we turned back the tide. Progressive candidates are offering real alternatives to the Right's increasingly frequent attacks on public education, a woman's right to choose, church-state separation and more.

Here's the bottom line: We can't beat right-wing challengers and incumbents without progressive candidates, and these candidates can't win without your help. Give the little extra effort that can mean the difference between a good race and a great victory.
