Playing Poker with Hussein - Rovian Spin & Tactics

I put this in the political, becuase if anything Saddam's Hussein capture will play out in the United States politicaly more than militarily becuase the guerilla war will not end, as everyone thinks it will by tomorrow.

These are my assessments of things:

In General in Iraq: -the guerilla war will continue
-it may well intensify in the next couple days to send a message to the world
- if their were or are any WMD they may be used soon, since Saddam is now captured, lets say an insurance policy or a last act of defiance against the United States

For the Democrats: -ye old your either with Buscho or your against Bushco
- anti-war democrats will be spinned the usual way, if they waffled on the issue their toast
-pro-war democrats whom waffled on teh issue are also toast
-in general, Saddam is caught now, opposition critisizm does nto matter

For the Republicans: -Saddam is caught, the war is now over, everything is fine. GW is great cuase he said he'd get saddam, etc.....
- they'll have this simple issue and use it with 9/11 as much as possible, repeating it over, and over , and over.


This is all politics, I would not be surprised that they really knew where he was and waited untill now. Why? It takes the media away from Deans strength and from giving him (good) coverage, and scathes him becuase he's anti-war. It takes pressure away from Dick Cheney, Bushco and Halliburton war profitering. It detracts the media from domestic issues such as overtime-pay, media consolidtion, etc....

Even though Saddam can implicate Daddy Bush and the United States into propping him up; he's worth more alive becuase he can be used as a powerful poilitcal tool against anybody as well as a media story that detracts the media from looking in at Bushco.

Saddam will be executed when he no longer has a use for Bushco.


But, it could backfire IF there is a major insurgant offensive in Iraq or a terrorist attack in the USA.
