Kucinich campaign check in. How does it look in your area?
Most people won't talk to pollsters and so we can't expect them to be accurate. My experience from talking to people is that Kucinich has a great deal more support in California than the polls show. I would like to hear from other Kucinich supporters (and only Kucinich supporters) about what the outlook is like in your area.

1. Sure
I havent been campaigning due to work and school but I do what I can. At work I saw a guy passing out flyers, didnt get a word in though because I am naturally shy and I was loading a car when I saw the man. A friend's mom has a Kucinich sticker, as does my sigh sometimes nutcase dad.

2. I wish I could tell you.
I seem to be almost all alone out here but my husband has come around and is now supporting him. I have several friends who support him and I have been spreading around the word, especially to the farmers and ranchers I know but they keep their opinions pretty close to the vest. Some of them seem very interested (NAFTA/WTO and the Ag issues). My biggest problem seems to be with democrats, those really connected to the state seem to push me off and still have no idea what he really stands for. I keep on keeping on. I have signed on to two campaigns here in the state so maybe when that gets going it will help, I will have more time to influence people while we work. The Peace march is coming through my town, Topeka, and I am walking with them and housing several, perhaps that will be covered in the news. Not much help for you but I do know several other cities in Kansas have sizable meet ups.

16. Update-
Well it looks like I've been doing something right!

I got a call from a lady this afternoon looking to help organize the petition drive in her district, I checked the database for new volunteers and found a good 30 new names and contacts, and we have a local meeting tonight where we'll be organizing local petition drives, voter registration drives, and several other agenda items, including State-wide Internet outreach efforts.

To top it all off, I get to meet the Georgia State Coordinator tonight and hopefully get a few tips about what's working for him. It's coming together slowly but surely!

4. To be frank no one is talking about Bush or anyone here,
I find it very odd. I live right up nest to NH and go over a few times a week and hardly see a sign up for any one. One yard has Dean signs up.It is down right odd .

5. L. A. and San Bernadino Counties are doing well. OC has a lot of problems
From what I hear from the Orange County people, the campaign there is collapsing. Apparently Lila Garrett appointed a guy named Greg Gilbert to be Southern California Field Coordinator and then quit. The problem that has the Orange County people upset is that Greg is not a Democrat and gave false address and political affiliation information to the campaign. They are also concerned about some of his past business ventures in the Irvine area. Apparently Greg and some of his friends want to disband the Orange County operation that has worked so well at bringing people into the campaign and place everyone and everything under him. The Democrats are trying to find a way to support Dennis without working for Greg. But they say it's really hard because the campaign doesn't seem to care about Greg's political affiliation or his background.

Here is some interesting reading.

6. I have found a few supporters
I live in Central Oregon and attended the Moveon.org showing about Iraq thinking I would find a lot of DK supporters there.(most people there were Dean supporters) There were about five of us DK supporters there and I was surprised that they all seemed to be in their 60's or 70's. I think that is great as Dennis seems to have a broad range of appeal. I'm still looking for bumper stickers though, none so far here.

7. I live in VA
and a week ago I got a call from the campaign asking to help out because it came down to crunch time to getting enough signatures so that he would appear on the VA primary ballot. Unfortunately I wasn't able to help out at such short notice. I did hear though that he will appear on the ballot. Which is a good thing. I don't know of very many people who know about Dennis where I live. Hell I live in the first district and in 2002 the Dems didn't run anyone against Jo-Ann Davis.

Anyway I am pulling for Dennis and have a feeling he might surprise some folks in the primary.

8. Dedicated group
I live in Ohio, so support is probably a little stronger here than around the nation. The Kucinich group is a very dedicated bunch and everyone I've met has been very nice too. I've heard they are well organized and are attracting some college students from Dean. I don't know how Kucinich looks in the polls here, but I think he has enough support to shake things up. My main concern is that many of his supporters are Green Party members and we may lose them if he doesn't get the nomination.

I know you asked for only Kucinich supporters, but I have nothing bad to say about him, so I thought I'd throw in my two cents. :)

9. Hopping
I could walk from one meet-up to another if I wanted. There were about a dozen people at my first meet-up, now we have trouble finding places with rooms large enough to hold us all. It's great to see the numbers growing like this and with a very healthy sprinkling of different people, race, age, even political persuasion. We have mostly Dems, some Greens, Progressive Independent and even a few ex-Republicans who like the message. I've never believed the media driven/controlled polls for a minute. The increase in our meet-up activity seems directly proportional to this:

Dennis is going to do A-ok in CA

10. Here in NW IA
DK visited Saturday and Sunday. He went to a lot of places; newspaper didn't say much about it, so I don't know how many attended. He was at a college in Sioux City. I went to that one. The newspaper said there were about 55 people. A variety of ages.

For two days prior to that, I volunteered with the campaign and made phone calls. Left a lot of messages. Of those that I did speak to, a few were enthusiastic about attending. Most were indifferent. And a few more were Dean supporters.

The biggest battle here, I think, is apathy.

11. Minnesota's ROCKIN, but you probably knew that!
Also, attended the campaign meeting last night, where many folks are making trips to northern Iowa. Decorah is in good shape, with a large local contingent, so that's good news.

Mason City is next on the list, with trips going down there a couple of times weekly by various volunteers. Word is spreading in Iowa like wildfire, expect a decent showing that will suprise MANY people.

Someone else reported that Ani DiFranco will be playing on Jan 18 (day before the caucuses) in Des Moines, and may help with some GOTV efforts for DK, too. That will certainly add a few more to the list!

Also, last night's DK meeting was interesting for me for another reason: I ran into a neighbor of mine who lives a couple houses down the block! I didn't even know she was a Kucinich supporter, but I should have guessed because of the Wellstone, Nader and "No Iraq War" signs in her yard over the last few years. It turns out that many in our 'hood are DK supporters, so organizing for the caucuses will be easier than I expected.

12. AZ is happening!
Edited on Wed Dec-17-03 04:46 PM by Desertrose
N AZ is getting some strong support.

We have this awesome blue "Kooch" van that friends had out the other day driving through Flag and they got all kinds of waves, thumbs up, peace signs & honks!! A lot of name recognition!

I see easily as many ( more maybe) Kucinich bs as I do Dean bumper stickers.

I hear the southern part of the state rocks for Dennis, too.
BTW he is coming to our state next week to file...
Wahooo!!!!

Go Dennis!
:yourock:

Dennis will surprise a LOT of people!!!

Peace

15. WA state
Lots of Deaniacs here, but Kucinich should make a good showing. State office was bombarded with phone calls after the media comment in the NH debate. The only other candidates with a volunteer base here are Clark and Kerry.
