Wisconsin attorney general endorses Dean for president
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager endorsed fellow Democrat Howard Dean for president Tuesday and will serve as the state chair for his campaign.

Lautenschlager, who won the office last year, becomes the highest profile Democrat in Wisconsin to endorse Dean and the first attorney general in the country to do so.

She said she decided to back Dean, the former governor of Vermont, because of his grass-roots campaign that has reached out to people and belief that special interests have taken over American politics.

"In Gov. Dean, we have a candidate where what you see is what you get and he says what he thinks and he's not afraid to articulate his point of view," Lautenschlager said during a conference call with reporters.

1. Is the Attorney General 'higher profile' than the Lieutenant Governor,

Barb Lawton, who endorsed Clark back in October and is his Wisconsin Chair?

It's like a political poker game, and I could NEVER remember which hands were higher than others in that, either! :)

Congrats on the endorsement, Deanies. I still think Wisconsin will go for Clark, but as long as the state stays 'in the blue' next November, I'll be all smiles.

2. Really, they both are equally good
Congrats to the Clarkies and Congrats to the Deanies!

I agree, though, that as long as Wisconsin stays blue in 2004 (along with my beloved Minnesota and at least 270 electors), I'm all happy!

3. Great endorsement
She is our freshman AG taking over the position when Jim Doyle was elected Governor. We also have a great endorsement from Senate Minority Leader Jon Erpenbach. I'm hoping my congress person Tammy Baldwin will endorse Dean.

4. Lautenschlager is awesome!
She brought the hammer down on Katharine Lyall and the UW-Board of Regents for having a secret meeting where they tried to raise the chancellors' salaries.

I hope she runs for Governor in 2010, or for Kohl's Senate seat if Kohl retires in 2012.
