Congresswoman Hilda Solis Endorses Dean for President
EL MONTE, CA--Today, Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis of California endorsed Governor Dean, citing his work on ensuring access to affordable health care and protecting the environment.

"Dean is the political candidate we need to energize the American people," said Congresswoman Solis. "As a Latina and an environmentalist, I support Dean because he is truly compassionate and is serious about restoring our international credibility, protecting our environment, and improving conditions for working class families and women."

"We must restore our country's faith in the White House. I believe that Dean understands the role that a President plays in building support and will listen to the needs of the American people when making a decision," said Congresswoman Solis. "As a Doctor, Dean knows we are facing a health crisis in America and his expertise will bring a new focus and perspective on health issues."

"I'm pleased that Hilda Solis has joined our campaign to take our country back. She is a nationally recognized advocate for environmental justice, and she is a valuable addition to the greatest grassroots campaign presidential politics has ever seen," Governor Dean said.

1. Beautiful Name, Hilda Solis
It's a melodic name and very pretty.

I don't know why I said that, but it's true.

Thanks, Congresswoman Solis!

2. I really like Rep. Solis!
She's been standing up for working people in this state for some time. She's a real people's representative! I'm glad to hear her endorsement. The past couple days have really helped to solidify my support for Dean's candidacy.

3. Superdelegate!
This is a good endorsement for Dean...hopefully this and the Becerra endorsement will make people stop claiming that Dean doesn't appeal to Hispanics.

5. As kind of a newbie...
...to DU, Superdelegate is kind of a funky word. Goobergunch, do they get a full delegate vote? Two votes? Is it a super-size vote? With fries?

Congrats on the endorsements - don't forget the endorsement of the American people...

6. A "Superdelegate" is technically an "Unpledged PLEO", meaning that...
they are delegates to the convention by virtue of their position in the party, not selected by the voters. They get one vote, the same as everyone else.

Superdelegates include:
-DNC members
-Members of Congress
-Distinguished Party Leaders (former Presidents, VPs, Sen. Dem. Leaders, House Speakers, and DNC Chairs)

11. Dennis Cadoza?
Is that who supports Lieberman. Cardoza was lampooned for saying he was "Hispanic," when he is Portuguese, which is not considered Hispanic by many. I think he's a good match for his Modesto-centered district though.
