Dean...the ONLY candidate with truly broad minority support....
So, now, with the news of the DNC Hispanic Caucus endorsing Dean.

Elijah Cummings, chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Jesse Jackson, Jr., Sheila Jackson-Lee, DC City Council, and a number of other African-American leaders endorsing Dean.

Vast support in the LGBT community.

So which other candidate even comes close to Dean's support in these minority communities??

1. This sounds like Dean saying that he is the only candidate
that opposed the war.

Here is a list:

Sharpton
CMB

3. It's not Dean saying anything...it's me...
So attack me if you wish...I'm just stating what's obvious to me.

Show us the endorsements for Sharpton and CMB...

The African-American community is not going lockstep behind anyone this year.

4. well I won't go that far but
Dean has been agressively working hard in the minority community and it has paid off with many more endorsements from people in congress and community leaders than I've seen going to other candidates.

7. And Kerry's Hispanic support...Dean has a similar list to this one from GA
What Hispanic leaders have endorsed Kerry?

It does seem particularly appropriate to trumpet endorsements for Dean...since endorsements were a MAJOR part of the Kerry campaign until they started to dry up...and Democrats were upset with some Kerry supporters like Diane Feinstein voting for the Republican Medicare bill.

11. There's no comprehensive list
There's only a few on this page. He doesn't even have RFK, Jr., Gary Hart, the Massachusetts State endorsers, NH and Iowa endorsers, etc. I think he's running on his own vision, record and policies; not other people's opinions.

8. Do you remember the comments of Dean's problems in the black community?
The endorsements are at least one indicator this isn't the case.

What about Kerry's problems in minority communities? Hispanic support? LGBT support?

10. Congrats to Dennis...the categorization began, I believe,
By the insistence of those opposed to Dean claiming he is a failure as a candidate because he does not have support in minority communities.

My effort in this thread is to point out the inaccuracies in that perception.

Yes, it can be offensive to "categorize" people, but until racism and discrimination based on ethnic, sexual orientation or other background is eliminated...it is absolutely necessary to continue to have conversations about these issues, and look to leaders in those communities for leadership and direction.

To silence Dean supporters who wish to celebrate support from minority communities by calling the celebration "offensive" seems a little disingenuous from those who once were claiming Dean had no real support in minority communities. I guess I get it, though...you want there to be no possibility of being disproven...

12. No
We want him to stop having white people hold up African-Americans for Dean signs in states that are 50% African-American.

13. So since the Hispanic support for Kerry can't be found...
A usual Kerry campaign tactic...attack Howard Dean. The thrashings of a failing campaign.

6. I think it's important to note...
...that a good deal of the support is coming not because Dean is pandering to anyone, but because his message is consistent regardless the audience. Domestic policy full of hope for EVERYONE, and as Bob Graham said, a foreign policy that shows a clear VISION for Americas future role in the world...
