I just made another donation to Clark's Campaign
Edited on Sat Dec-20-03 12:18 PM by PSU84
We must win help Wes Clark win this fight for the nomination.
I've been reading Rick Atkinson's wonderful book "The Long Gray Line" about the West Point Class of 1966 - Wes Clark's class. More West Pointers from the class of 1966 were killed and more were wounded (including Wes Clark) in Southeast Asia than from any other class. As I read once again last night the oath those young men took (no women at that time) on the Plain at West Point "to support and defend the Constitution of the United States" I could not help thinking how Bush, Cheney, and Ashcroft have violated their own oath of office; how they have time and again desecrated the Constitution they swore to defend. This week, federal courts in New York and San Francisco declared that an American citizen, indeed any man or woman, cannot be locked away indefinitely without access to counsel or without being charged with a crime. These rulings are fragile, however. They could be overturned by the Supreme Court or invalidated by the cowardly Republicans in Congress - Bush's allies in his crusade to trample over and discard the Rule of Law. Make no mistake, We the People are under assault from a gang of power-hungry criminals who took office without the assent of the majority and who will do anything to retain control of our government. We MUST defeat Bush in 2004. We owe it to ourselves. We owe it to those men and women who took that oath to support and defend the Constitution, and who have devoted their lives to the creed of "duty, honor, country."

I believe that several candidates other than Clark - Kerry, Gephardt, Edwards, and even the volatile Joe Lieberman - would be good Presidents. But I honestly believe that Wes Clark's character, intellect, and experience make him the best candidate for 2004. And I honestly believe that he is the only candidate who can beat Bush.

1. Support and Defend the Constitution
BY VOTING FOR A DEMOCRAT. I too hope that General Clark is elected President or at least has some position in the next administration. Conservatives have no use for the Constitution because it dares gives rights to all citizens. It saddens me that there are so many dupes in this country who will follow the credo that a "weakened constitution will strenghthen our country." This is the covert message of the republican party and their hate radio network. Work hard my fellow Americans. When we get a candidate we must fight as if our constitutional rights depend upon it - for they do.

2. I've donated to Clark..................
not as much as to Dean, but I think Clark is a fine choice and would be comfortable with him if nominated. Stick to your favorite, but in the end be it Clark or Dean or whomever, work like hell to get that person elected next fall. There's no room for quitters and halfhearted Democrats next year. It's going to be an epic battle to pry Bush's cowboy ass out of the White House, and we need to stick together like never before.

3. I agree
As much as I hate sports analogies, I am going to use one. The primaries are just the playoffs, winning them even by a wide margin doesn't mean anything when you get to the big game.

When we get to the General Election, we have to give every available moment, energy, and money. If you are committed to getting Bush out, then there is nothing you should hold back when the big game comes.

4. Me too
Donated today, and last Thursday at the house party I attended.

At the house party, we got to hear from Clark's campaign manager about the path Clark can take to the nomination. I'm looking forward to seeing Clark beat Kerry in NH, and then getting to vote for him myself in our caucus on Feb 7.

6. I donated another $15 to Trolls for Dean
http://www.trollsfordean.com

This post is just another example of 'attempting' to rub other people's nose to your candidate.

Cheers if you donated to your candidate, but you don't have to rub it in. You certainly did for me.

7. Hawkeye
talks much like the candidate he supports - I leave it to you to discern whether or not that is a compliment.
