Kerrey Campaigns for Kerry
Former Senator Bob Kerrey Campaigns for Democratic Candidate John Kerry

January  15,  2004

For Immediate Release

Bob Kerrey, Vietnam veteran and former Senator from Nebraska, will campaign on behalf of John Kerry in Council Bluffs tonight.

Bob Kerrey is the President of the New School University in New York City. He represented the State of Nebraska in the United States Senate for twelve years, and served as governor for four years.

Kerrey is a former member of the elite Navy SEAL Team, the Navy's version of the Green Berets, and is a highly decorated Vietnam veteran who earned the Congressional Medal of Honor – America's highest military honor.

Kerrey’s visit reinforces John Kerry’s overwhelming support from Iowa veterans. Iowa’s Veterans for Kerry has been organizing strong grassroots support amongst Iowa’s 292,000 veterans over the past year. About 90,000 of them are registered Democrats and Independents. More than 15,000 veterans participated in the caucus in 2000.

This week, Kerry also received the backing of Attorney General Tom Miller and Secretary of Agriculture Patty Judge. Kerry has been endorsed by 27 state legislators, more than any other candidate.
