I haven't posted here, for a while. Too many battles to fight, I guess. I made this post on a Yahoo! board within minutes of the end of the SOTU address. I thought I'd share it with you folks, too, even though it's probably old news here, by now.
But, between the huge voter turnouts, and the absolutely pathetic perfomance of the Bush boy, I'm starting to see reasons for hope.
-------------here's the post--------------
Wow!
If you didn't see the SOTU, see if you can find it on replay, somewhere. It was absolutely amazing. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I don't EVER recall booing in a SOTU address.
When Bush said that the Patriot Act was about to expire, a CHEER! went up from the Democrats, and he looked at them, annoyed. But then, when he said he wanted it renewed, I SWEAR I heard booing!
"The War On Teraa" (TM) didn't sell, no one was buying the tax cuts, any more, the economy's in trouble and everybody knows it...he even went so far as trying to blame Clinton for terrorism and then use him to defend bigotry against gays, just like the good pubbie puppy that he is.
It was just an amazing thing to watch! Without the body language from the soldiers that were there, the obvious irritation of Bush at opposition, his seeming shock when the more hateful aspects of his agenda weren't applauded...I swear, I don't even think his wife believes him, any more. Sure, there was a lot of partisan applause, a lot of standing ovations from the hatefilled pubbie side of the room, but even the applause at the end was muted, sort of disappointed. Words can't do justice to the meltdown that I just witnessed.
Between the huge turnout in Iowa last night, and the SOTU tonight, hope is restored. If there's a "SOTU bounce", it will be small and short-lived. The battle has been joined. It's the beginning of the end for the fortunate son.
PS - no mention of bin Laden, or "a mushroom cloud over an American city". And Dan Rather is a wh0re.
