Calif. GOP Senate Primary Is Overshadowed
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - California Republicans have made finding a strong challenger to Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer a priority for more than a year, but the primary is on Tuesday and voter interest in the four contenders for the GOP nomination is less than robust.
The choice appears to be between "sacrificial lambs," as one analyst put it.
Overshadowed by the gubernatorial recall in October and the presidential election, the GOP Senate primary pits former Secretary of State Bill Jones against attorney and former Assemblyman Howard Kaloogian, businesswoman Toni Casey and former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin.
