Open letter to the President.
July 17, 2010

The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. President:

I know that you’ll probably never read this and maybe, no one else, really will, but, one can hope. The Country is, in a real mess right, now and though most of it, was in no way, directly caused by you, you are, one of the few people that can have a direct impact on changing things, especially, those things that need change, quickly. I, also, applaud you for your efforts, to date.

You know as well as I, that your “ change “ promise, was more rhetoric then people thought. You see, the People really thought that you would bring fundamental change, after our 8 year Bush, nightmare. Oh well, we got a great emotional lift out of it but that has most certainly, been, its greatest value. I know you like to promote your HCR, Banking Reform, etc, etc. and those were positive steps, in the right direction ( but they will be considered a little step, in retrospect and of course, you know how your Progressive Base, feels ) but the most interesting aspect of the “ fight “ for these so-called, Reforms was that, it brought to the average, citizen’s attention, the dysfunctional nature of our Government ( especially the Senate ). It’s amazing that the MSM hasn’t really done its job, so as a consequence, a lot of People were ignorant of the corruption that has overtaken, Washington D.C. So, that was a good thing. You should know that, your tentative reform, leadership is commonly accepted as evidence of your factual, cozy relationship with our, Corporate Over Lords and the chasm, that exists, between Obama the Candidate’s and Obama the President’s, rhetoric.

Every Bureaucracy, has structural weaknesses, as I know you are aware and the worst one, is that your “ underlings “ are resistant to provide you with bad news ( sometimes, know as the truth ), so, here it is:

The Country is on the verge of an economic, nervous breakdown. Near 10 % unemployment is not and never should be, acceptable and people are physically, psychologically and emotionally, suffering. The reason they are suffering was caused by things, they had, absolutely no control over. Trickle down, supply side or Reaganomics combined with poor governance and foreign trade policies, by Republicans, have destroyed the economy, the regulatory agencies and corrupted the Governments relationship with, so-called “ Big Business “ and the only reason we are not in a great depression is because of the massive, emergency, banking assistance that was provided, to the large banks. We, The People, are suffering and you do not provide an, adequate response and in fact, the Big Banks mock the so call “little people”. We need an FDR, game changing, response and yet, you or your staff, mouth, GOP talking points, about how the “ Government doesn’t create jobs “. Well, Business is not hiring ( or lending ), Consumers can not spend money, they don’t have, so guess what, you’re all that’s left, guy. Either you really believe that CRAP about Government not being able to create jobs or you are being poorly served, by your staff. Make no mistake about this, you either put people back to work, quickly, or you’re finished and if that happens and the Wrecking Crew comes back, then Country is also, finished. That statement, was a fundamentally, stupid political mistake, however I, forgive you for that and assume, like many, that you have long-term, game plan. Also, since I did not actually hear you say this, I apologize if I’m wrong. However, your Deficit Commission, seems to stress the same Philosophy, so the point is still, cogent.

Bi-partisanship is not, and never will be, a winning political strategy, especially for you. The Conservatives have gone so far right, that a functional, middle ground, is impossible. You actually said that yourself, once, and you were right. Why don’t you take your own advice? I’m guessing but, I really do believe, that you mistake, political and social correctness, in your dealings with most of the Republicans as a “ workable social and business arrangement “ and that, most of your Republican “ colleagues “ actually, respect you, however, the TRUTH, is that, they hate you, just because your black and they fear that you represent the end of their white dominance. Now, they will never tell you that but that, is the way it is. Just for self-disclosure I am a “white” person, whatever that is?
We ( you ) have about a million problems to deal with, I know, but the main fundamental, root, foundational, problem in this Country is that our so-called Democracy is a dysfunctional and corrupt, Oligarchy and you know this. In fact, this is the cause of many of the other million, problems, that you face. So, using you bully pulpit as a start, why have you not initiated, a federal reformation, of our electoral and related lobbying issues. Our election processes are corrupt beyond measure. Please administrate, legislate or whatever you must do to correct these issues. Also, you can not wait for Congressional Leadership on this matter, as it will never be, forthcoming. If you don’t do this, nothing else really matters.

Many, people, in this Country, really believe that the Democrats and the Republicans are nothing more then, “ two sides of the same coin “. If you look at the, so called, Conservadems, one can understand why, people feel this way. I give you, Mr. Ben Nelson, as evidence. I write this not, just to chastise but also to enlighten you. This is the truth and hopefully, you will accept this.

Most Respectfully;

Wayne C. Bevan

4. Yeah
but the ones in 2012 are not, nor are the hopes of those who actually think Hillary would be a step in the right direction, as opposed to a step to the RIGHT.
