"Are you better off then you were four years ago?"
The Famous words from Ronald Reagan in 1984 that cost Bush Sr. re-election in 1992 and got Clinton re-elected in 1996.

Now answer Old Reagan's question again. Are you personally better off then you were 4 years ago? Why or why not?

I am not, I think it is impossible to get a good job and inflation is horrible, and the stock market is as strong as wet noodle.

1. To be fair...

....Captain Codpiece has saved us from the twin scourges of peace abroad, and prosperity at home.

Now that foreigners fear our wrath, instead of thinking highly of us, and now that middle management types, and not just minorities, finally have a chance to enjoy the social safety net, I'd be proud to live in a cardboard box under a bridge for Junta Boy.

2. All true. Trouble is...
...it gives the freepers a chance to oh-so righteously remind us of a certain day in September, 2001.

4. NO
I haven't had a raise in two years, I'm swamped at work, my 401 K is still way down, I have little hope of any economic recovery while these thieves occupy the White House.

5. Are you kidding?
If I had no family, I'd be living in a box right now. I get $750 a month to live on, which is a laugh. I can't get a place to live that has subsidized housing, so I can't afford the rent and food, too.

I have to be nice to my religious reich family in order to have some bones thrown to me. In all honesty, I'm at the point of despair.

6. That is so sad, I am sorry :(
I have some wealthy Republican family members too. They are not far right though so I am in good shape.

but one thing I have to say is that you are wrong on inflation. I have to give Bush this inflation is pretty low. The rest of your post is right.

9. yes
I personaly, am actually better off now than 4 years ago.

The underlying problem with Reagan's premise is that it focused on the personal rather than the societal.

The country I live in, I perceive as worse off than it was four years ago, and that makes whatever gains I have personally made in the past four years precarious. I am better off now, but for how long?

10. Try: Does your future look better now than it did in four years ago.

It's different and resonates better for me.

And, the answer is a resounding NO for both.

11. Don't worry. Bush's will come up with another 9/11 or another war
to fix the election. Actually he doesn't have to. The electronic voting machines are already fixed.
