What about starting a recall campaign targeting a prominent Republican???
I was thinking that maybe it might be interesting to try and counterbalance what is happening in California by recalling a Republican, therefore sending the message that it isn't a good idea for the Republicans to do this. Here's the list of three possible high level targets(all three live in states with recall laws):

1. Georgia US Sen. Saxby Chambliss-The man is an insult to the Senate, and GA's recall laws actually don't require you to give a reason. Plus in a special election, I don't think Republicans can get away with the Diebold trick nearly as much.

2. Montana Gov. Judy Martz-She's wildly unpopular and there's a fairly popular Democrat(Brian Schweitzer) to take over.

3. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty-The man's a moron and is out of touch(he showed that when he helped pass the CCW laws). He's not terribly popular either.

3. Ct. Gov. John Rowland
Puleeze! We've got an income tax, a 6% sales tax, and hundreds of millions coming from indian casinos per year, and our budget is f*cked. Partially because his former campaign chairman (w was also a bigwig in a state department} gve hundreds of millions to Enron shortly before they went belly up. Some campaign finance irregularities tied to ShrubCo too.

But he's probably not high profile enough.

6. Rowland
He is the king of the idiots -- he isn't mean spirited -- he is just an idiot. I would sign a recall Rowland petition if it weren't for Jody Rell. I will have to call the Bruce and Colin show and see if there is any interest.

5. Outstanding idea!
lets go after Chambliss. I think lots of Georgians were very upset about the outcome of that election. How do we get the ball rolling? Lets get Moveon.org involved.

Norm Coleman of Minnesota also strikes me as being another possible recall candidate.

Here's a copy of Minnesota's recall laws:

8. Robert Taft of Ohio...
won saying the Dem would raise taxes. Taft now has to raise taxes because he was not honest about the budget before the 2002 race.

9. You can't recall Senators...
but it would be great to recall Pawlenty. I say wait until 2004 for Martz...we ought to be able to pick up the seat then and her unpopularity could help in the presidential race.

10. Chambiss could not be recalled
Federal officials are not subject to recall. Their terms are set by the constitution and cannot be changed by the voters. The only way that they can be removed is by being expelled by the body they belong to.
