An interesting take on Dean and his campaign
From John Brummett, columnist for the Fayetteville (AR) Morning News, and the Arkansas Times.

1. Very interesting article article CS.
Dean has "defined" himself unless a lot of the other contenders.

2. You from Fayetteville?
I'm from Newton County, and work in Boone, that enlightened home of the KKK and neocons. What I've been noticing is a lack of support and reverence for the Shrub that was oh so evident during the protests (when the Harrison Daily Times said we protestors should be "reined in"). Even that paper has run some anti-Bush cartoons, poking fun at his appearance on the aircraft carrier, etc. etc.

What I am hearing from people is that they feel their loved ones over in Iraq are suffering. They are worried about the economy, and aren't quite sure why. I often take the time to point out that the Repukes haven't supported the troops and that the tax cut to the rich is imperiling our way of life. Personally, I think Dean's fiscal policies will sit well here, and I don't think his anti-war stance will hurt him, especially if he argues that we easily won the war but that we're losing the peace. The civil unions thing will be his hardest hurdle-but then the gay folks I know around here ALL vote, whereas the other folks don't. So we'll see.

Say hi to Bob if you see him around the town, CS.

3. Excellent analysis. Dean doesn't get passt square one.

"And he has been a tad too blustery, even angry, for status as likable regular Joe."

4. John Brummett may be an award winning columinist, but he's clueless
about Dean and his campaign.

It's obvious that John Brummett has not attended a Meetup or rally.

What John Brummett doesn't seem to realize is that Dean is attracting, not just liberals, but moderate Republicans as well.

But that's OK, this Notre Damer smells an upset in the making and Howard Dean will pull off the greatest upset in American Political History next year. It will be greater than Truman's, only in that Dean will win both the nomination, which was a given for Truman in 1948, and the general election.

We are on the verge of a paradigm shift in American Politics and Howard Dean is leading the way.
