Graham says Ashcroft will be first to clean out his desk
Graham Blasts Ashcroft as Unjust and Bad for America

Atlanta, GA -- "I'm glad Attorney General John Ashcroft has left behind his cozy confines in Washington and is traveling the country to meet with regular folks for once. Hopefully, it will do the Attorney General some good to hear from the American people on how his extreme policies have hurt this nation. I only wish that he would actually listen to the people of America as he tours the country and upon returning to Washington straighten up his far-right Justice Department.

"I feared John Ashcroft would become just this kind of Attorney General when I voted against his confirmation in 2001. His Justice Department has demonstrated a willful lack of commitment to the basic fairness and equality of opportunity that has made this country all that it is today.

"I, along with 98 other United States Senators, supported the passage of the Patriot Act. Never did I expect it to be implemented the way it has. Mr. Ashcroft has chosen to destroy our civil liberties under the premise of personal security and safety; the true spirit in which the law was written.

"If the American people entrust in me the White House, Mr. Ashcroft will be the first person in the Bush administration that cleans out his desk."

1. that goes without saying
but I think if a democrat is elected president in 2004 that none of our candidates would retain Ashcroft. But I'm glad he is campaigning hard against him.

2. well
Why the hell didn't the Democratic Senators stop this jackass
(knowing FULL WELL what a nutjob Crisco Boy was while he was
IN the Senate) when they had the chance?

And; why did 98 of the f*ckers VOTE for it, unread? They are
sooooo looking out for their constituents, sooooo into freedom
and liberty that, um, they voted for this sh*t without reading it
just because they THOUGHT it might harm THEM in the polls.
What titanic 'leaders' they all are. "I need to be re-elected, so
I'll vote for something I don't know anything about because
of it's name. THAT'LL show what a bold leader I am!". NOT.

Whoopdy dooo, Graham.

6. The Bob Cat.
I contributed to Graham's campaign this morning, so it's too late to give you credit, Ilknsale. And don't get jealous DU. I donated to you too.

That makes me officially a political news junkie!

9. No Bob, the first will be Bushler himself
once Bushler is out the door all his evil minions can follow!

Here's a point brought up by some previous alas, not so well informed posts:

We need to support our Senators and Congressmen. Most people do not realize that the majority in Congress and the Senate sets the agenda. I had this argument with Bartcop and tried to explain Jeffords' decision was so important. The committee chairmen only throw a few bones to the minority once in a while when a minority leader squawks loud enough. Although it seems to some that our Democratic Congressmen are not fighting for us I must say that their hands are tied by the majority. This is always the case.

11. Go Bob Graham!
In addition to the oily turd Ashcan, Florida's favorite son has the hard data linking the Little Turd from Crawford to gross criminal negligence and incompetence, at the very least; high treason, most likely. Even more, given his sharp mind and fast contacts in Washington, Graham could link the Bush Organized Crime Family from Poppy and Smirk and Ashcan and Sneer to criminality in a good many matters coast-to-coast and around the world. Good riddance to bad rubbish, indeed!

13. Bob has the goods on these guys like no other candidate.
It will only become clearer as time passes that Senator Graham is, by far, the candidate with the BEST chance of beating Bush next year.

Instead of fixating so narrowly on the primary winners, who may not stand a chance when pitted against Bush, we need to think in reverse. It's the General Election that is the whole ball of wax. Senator Graham has a very broad appeal with many different types of people, and let's face it, the total Graham package is what will beat Bush like a drum.

16. I wish his campaign would
take off a lot more, but sadly it doesn't seem to be (maybe cause he got in late). I like what he has to say and think his experience and moderation make him highly electable, even though he is not as progressive as I prefer. Hopefully he will be considered as a VP candidate even though his age would make him unlikely to run 8 years from now. We'll see.
