NYT- Dean Readies Ad Blitz More Than Year Ahead of Election

snip>
Joe Trippi, Dr. Dean's campaign manager, said the goal was to match the highest amount ever raised by a Democrat in three months during a year without an election. That amount was raised by Bill Clinton as the incumbent president in 1995.

"Running for president of the United States is a marathon," Mr. Trippi said as Dr. Dean and the campaign's senior staff flew here from San Antonio, Tex., on the last day of a four-day, 10-city national tour. "We decided we were going to run the first four miles at a 100-yard dash pace. We decided we're going to run the second four miles at a 100-yard dash pace."

Mr. Trippi also announced this morning that the campaign would ask 700 supporters who live in Texas — "people who know George Bush the best" — to spend part of September canvassing voters in Iowa.

Texans lobbying Iowans. So smart. How do they come up with this stuff?

1. Brilliant!
And, on that note...

I'm finally off to donate. I've been resisting "The Bat" all weekend, but need to get it done before the rally tonight.

:toast:

3. What about Molly Ivins?
Didn't she go to High Scool or something like that with *bush? I think I remember her telling that story during the Book Fair on C-Span. The famous episode where O'Riley tells Franken to "Shut-Up."

6. Well...this goes to show that
it's not just a handful of us here on DU that are suspicious of how much the corporate media pushes Dean.

7. The media
loves a good story, and Dean is a good story, regardless of what you think of his politics. He's the darkhorse unknown candidate from a small state who everyone thought was "finished" after that silly statue-falling photo op in Baghdad.

He surprised everyone with his fundraising in the 2nd quarter, and he has been making swift gains in the national and local polls.

The media just loves this sort of thing, and even if their attention is shallow, I will take it. It's great for the campaign.

8. Or
it shows that the corporate media and the beltway party machines don't recognize wisdom when they hear it from minority candidates. Unlike Howard Dean.

10. Or, it simply shows one poster with zero imagination...
It seems that's all meegbear is able to post. I'd welcome some dialog, but he doesn't seem up to it.
