Just a reminder....here's hoping you'll contribute!

For those unaware, I'm running for the US House Of Representatives in Ohio's 16th District. My opponent is Ralph Regula, a do-nothing congressman who is on his 16th term that gets in on name recognition.

To give you an example oh his do-nothingness....32 years in office, and he is STILL not the chairman of any major committee. Subcommittee only. How pathetic.

So I need to get my name out in the community to overcome the public's apathy of just punching his name out of habit. Thanks for your help!

I don't know what you are talking about when you say that Regula is a do-nothing congressman. Committee chairmanships are largely given out by seniority, even though there are exceptions, and Regula doesn't have enough seniority to become a committee chairman. He can only serve on one committee because most members of the Appropriations Committee, one of the 3 most powerful committees, only serve on the Appropriations Committee. However, he is one of the Cardinals of the House because he is the chairman of an Appropriations subcommittee which is basically as powerful as some of the other full committees. Also, he will most likely become chairman of the Appropriations Commitee if he is reelected and that would make him one of the most powerful men in Washington.

I think the best attack on Regula is how Bush has a nickname for him, Ralphus.

He's done plenty for himself and his family, but our area has been struggling with the same problems for decades.

...may I point out that you're probably not going to win this battle you have chosen.

I have people on this board who like me and I have people on this board who dislike me. Same as you.

But here, I have history, whereas you do not.

When I returned from Ohio State after a Bush protest, shaking, angry and upset, DUers overwhelmingly ran to support me. I felt a feeling of family that I never thought could exist from a pack of people I'd never laid eyes upon.

When I tried to organize a "Bush Knew" rally at baseball stadiums on 9/11/02, the reports came in of 5 stadiums which saw the sneak attack.

When I had an accident that left my family penniless for 5 weeks (no work, no insurance), DUers sent help. They may very well have saved my life (not my physical life, but my way of life).

I have no way of repaying the love, respect, and financial support these DUers have given to me in the past....but I think that putting a DUer in the halls of Congress might be a start.

Now, I take my DU friends with me as I try to help recapture my country. You can join me, you can ignore me, or you can attack me. But I do know which one of those three will earn you a lot of grief, and not just from me.

The man on this board whom I can say was my biggest nemesis and enemy...I now call friend. The battle between us was ugly and brutal. But we came through it, and if I ever saw him, I would buy him a steak dinner. I would not be ashamed to say that he is a friend and I love him.

We achieved that pact through family...the family that DUers create amongst themselves. I urge you to calm down, stop the attacks, and join that family. Because I assure you, it will be a much more peaceful existence at DU if you work with your family and not against it.

I may not have deserved the love that DUers have given me. But they gave it anyway.

Should I win my congressional race, I guarantee they'll see that love returned ten-fold. Also, if I should lose that congressional race, I guarantee they'll see that love returned ten-fold. But one of them will be broadcast on c-span.

I know you don't like him, but I don't appreciate your constant ridiculing of my posts about Kerry. Us Kerry supporters endure countless "bring back the bat" "Dean hits one million" and all I'm trying to do is to help generate excitement for Kerry. If you say spam or anything that makes fun of me on any post I will call you on it. You need to not let your politics get personal which you clearly due.

By the way, congrats on your picture with Dean. I really enjoy seeing it in every single post of yours.
