Dean Meetups break 100k!

This is the second day of the September to Remember, and you've already made history.

At 11:35 AM, the 100,000th person joined Dean Meetup. This is truly astounding. I knew it was coming, but I'm still stunned with the power of it.

This is completely unheard of in presidential history, especially this early in a campaign -- one hundred thousand people planning to meet in their own communities and organize locally to take this country back and restore what is best in American Democracy.

Tomorrow, in 728 towns and cities, Americans will be putting aside a few hours -- skipping a movie or skimping on dinner -- to come together in 728 places to work with eachother on building this campaign.

I just checked the meetup numbers a little while ago, and we needed a few thousand to reach 100,000. I'm so excited. I'm beginning to think that we will reach our goal of 450,000 signed up at Dean's site by the end of the month. There hasn't been one single goal that we haven't reached! This is truly amazing!!!

If you're already committed to working for Dean's nomination, this will be the September to Remember. Beginning Monday September 1, the Dean campaign is announcing thirty days of coordinated activities as we countdown to the end of the third quarter on September 30th.

During the September to Remember, we'll be asking you to complete a different action each day to help Howard Dean win the nomination and become the next President of the United States.

"We have an opportunity over the next thirty days to change forever the way politics is practiced in America," Governor Dean said. "In the month of September, our campaign will demonstrate what it means to build the greatest grassroots campaign ever, and in doing so, demonstrate that we can take our country back. Through the help of hundreds of thousands of Americans, we will reengage millions of Americans in the political process, and with their help, take special interests money out of politics and return the country to the people."

Today, the first action of September to Remember is simple: If you haven't already done so, please join the campaign--or get a friend to join the campaign.

A few previews... start making plans to attend Wednesday's Dean 2004 Meetup in your local community and to watch Thursday's Democratic debate in Albuquerque. On September 20th, the campaign will host a national 'visibility' day, when Dean supporters across the country will take action in their communities to spread the word about Howard Dean.

in Vegas there isn't much political activism. But since the beginning of Dean's meetups, we have gone from 20 people to now needing THREE separate locations! There are around 70 signed up, but I suspect more will show, as is usual. Yeeeehaw!
