NH Public Radio's "The Exchange" is hosting a discussion on the state of the Democratic Party in the ever-important first primary state:
"New New Hampshire Democrats are less likely to be blue collar workers and more likely to be a more diverse mix. We'll look at how the Democratic Party is changing here and how the Democratic Presidential Candidates are trying to appeal to both the old and new kind of Democrat. Laura's guests are Mark Fernald (D), lawyer from Peterborough and member of the NH Progressive Network, State Representative Peter Sullivan (D), member of the Democratic Leadership Council, and Dante Scala, Associate Professor of Politics at St. Anselm College and research fellow at the NH Institute of Politics. We'll also hear from Andy Smith of the UNH Survey Center."
This ought to make for an interesting discussion. Neither of the Dems on the show are favorites of the party leadership, and have reputations for candor, so expect a spirited debate.
Curiously, Fernald and Sullivan are actually friends, and have supported each other's campaigns over the last few years!
