Lieberman began his day by telling the Associated Press, in response to Wesley Clark's assertion Thursday that he has taken "an incredible journey" since 2001 when he sided with Republicans, and is now a strong Democrat: "It looks like it's a journey of political convenience, not conviction."

Later Lieberman told Connecticut reporters that after the debate, he learned details of how Clark praised the Bush administration in a 2001 speech. The senator also raised questions about where Clark stood on the Iraq war.

"You've got to make clear choices and stick with them," Lieberman said. Clark had said he was against the war, then suggested last week he would have voted for it.

That gave Lieberman a rare chance to praise Dean, the most vocal of the anti-war Democrats. "Dean and I disagree," Lieberman said, "but he took a clear position and stuck with it."

Lieberman seemed most annoyed by Clark's one-time sympathy for Bush, saying the Clark speech came as the president had begun to undo key Clinton-era initiatives, such as support for the global warming treaty. "This raises questions Wesley Clark has got to answer," Lieberman said.

But I agree with Lieberman on Clark. Sure was an amazing journey in less than 2 years from sucing up to Bush and the PNAC gang to running for Dem Prez nominee.

but we've been already been through this about 800 times. Lieberman is obviously desperate.

Lieberman fired the first shot against Clark. Not Dean. And it was a personal attack, not an attack against his sponsors. And Lieberman is supposed to be the pious one.

Otherwise I draw no conclusions, since I'm not particularly a Lieberman fan. But I'll support him if he gets the nomination.

I really hate to agree with Lieberman. I am not altogether comfortable with Clark's conversion. There definitely seems to be potential for opportunism.
He seems to either have little or no ability to read people even when they say seriously sick things, or it doesn't make him uncomfortable.
I think it was a Newsweek article where he mentioned something that Condi told him, when they were courting him. To paraphrase: "I don't agree with peace keeping missions. Our soldiers are the only people who can kill people and take over countries, that's what they should be doing."
From what I can tell, it was AFTER that conversation that his praising of the Bush admin took place.
