Congressman Frank Pallone of NJ Endorses Howard Dean

Calling him a "lightning rod to get the Democrats moving again." Pallone, who represents the states sixth district, said that he attended a breakfast a few weeks ago on behalf of Dean which included about fifteen other congressmen and that he expects some of them to come out for Dean in the near future.

Pallone is a strong gun control advocate but said that Dean's stand on guns is "principled".

Sen. Jeffords
Sen. Leahy
Rep. Lofgren
Rep. Pallone

I don't have time to update the website right now, but Dean is currently 5th in the delegate count.

He said shortly before the declaration "as an independent I do not participating in the Democratic nominating process."

Dean spoke at our state Democratic convention and Pallone said he was not endorsing anyone yet but he had some nice things to say about Dean and I had a feeling he was leaning in his direction.

This is a little surprising, though, because some people said at our meetup that most NJ pols would not want to be in the business of endorsing because our primary is so late and they would rather have clout going to Boston next summer as unpledged super delegates.
